Plasma is going all Wayland

Reply in thread

Some things just don't work properly on Wayland. For example, #NoMachine remote #Plasma desktop sessions connect, show a white screen, then disconnect. Switching to an X11 session solves the problem.

This is a showstopper, so I'm sticking with X.Org.

Things like this needed to be ironed out before making it a permanent and exclusive replacement.

Holy shitballs Batman! Half my F-Droid apps have updates tonight. Did something happen that required a bunch of critical updates, or it is just the team getting a bunch of tasks ticked off all

For basic notes, Markor + Syncthing works a treat. I've been using it for years, and never had any issues with it.

I recently switched back to Joplin Notes, largely because of its (upcoming) support for Rocketbook (and other smart notebooks, such as Bambook and Scribzee), and the self-hosted Joplin Server, which lets me offer accounts to friends and family, and share notebooks with them.

It works perfectly, and has the added benefit of E2EE, biometric support, plus the many, many advanced features Joplin offers. There are plenty of other sync options, including file system (for use with Syncthing) and Nextcloud.

FR#150 – On ICE, Verification, and Presence As Harm

This demonstrates why monolithic platforms, and Bluesky in particular, are not the answer to X. Yet people keep running from one silo to the next, like sheep following the herd. Once the herd has finally decided that it's time to be a 'rebel' and leave whatever 'big bad' platform they're on. Yeah, yeah, I know, Bluesky is 'decentralised' and 'federated'. Except that it isn't really, now is it? Let's see what new silo they can run to in, say 15 years or so, when they finally realise that Bluesky is indeed the new Twitter/X, just not in the way they thought it was…

What security measures did everyone use when configuring and can Ansible manage multiple installs?

Run SSH over Tailscale. Extremely easy to set up, and it takes away the hassle of creating + distributing keys, port forwarding, etc. All authentication and access restriction is done through easy to understand ACLs.

I use it, for example to manage a friend's Snikket server in another country, with his server on his Tailnet shared with mine, and an SSH ACL to allow SSH access for my Tailscale user only.

@nuxttux made a very cool video showing off some highlights of the 25.04 release. Check it out!

It would be great if such videos could also be cross-posted on #PeerTube

It's obvious that #YouTube is becoming increasingly more unusable without a premium subscription, which not all of us can afford, never mind the increasingly hostile attitude of the platform towards its creators #enshitification

Also, videos about video editing using #opensource software, announced on a #federated network, really (also) belong on the #Fediverse
