Assumption: You are "sleeping on" COLDWATER, Andrew Lincoln's new thriller series [NO SPOILERS]

I say assumption, because I know a lot of you Walking Dead/Rick Grimes/Andrew Lincoln die hards will have seen it like me, but it also seems like this 6-episode show went under the radar of a lot of people, or they didn't think it was worth watching, or they didn't have access to it (it aired on British TV, apparently it's coming to Showtime and Paramount in the US in 2026, but surely there's a way to watch it for you guys now, I think it's on Crave in Canada or something or maybe Amazon or Apple). Obviously there are other means...

So here are my reasons for why you should watch Coldwater.

1️⃣. You've been lied to by IMDb: The show is underrated, and there are a ton of praising reviews that stand in contrast to the IMDb rating. I don't know why the rating is as it is, honestly, but I suspect people didn't give it enough of a go. The first episode was a little rushed but it really finds its footing after a few episodes and the tension ramps up. Note the later episodes are rated highly compared to the first. Also, maybe TWD fans watched it expecting Rick Grimes, when the character is kind of the complete opposite, but then at the same time displays many elements of Rick and evolves throughout the series in really satisfying ways, no spoilers.

2️⃣. This show is a bit like Ozark but with Andrew Lincoln instead of Jason Bateman, as far as vibes. I won't say more.

3️⃣. The finale has 2 moments that feel like they are direct homages to Rick moments in The Walking Dead, if anyone has seen it and wants to know what I'm talking about let me know, but otherwise I won't say anything more on that. I can't confirm if it's intentional or not but highly coincidental if not.

4️⃣. The show's writer is a playwright, and I think this is one of his first TV/film projects. That might sound sketchy, but I think he brought a unique vision into it drawing from his experience writing plays, and put a lot of care and focus into each episode. He said in, well look I'll put the article here : https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/itv-coldwater-creator-speaks-out-35831753 but basically he treated this series as like 6 plays that integrate with each other as one singular story. And it really does feel like every episode was fast paced and there was a lot happening all the time, very engaging, I wasn't bored at all once I got into it, which didn't take long, and then I just wanted to keep watching the next episode until I finished it. It gets super intense and the tension just ramps up and up, and I know I probably sound like a fool if you didn't like it, but to each their own lol.

5️⃣. We need a season 2! I know this was billed as a miniseries, but as you can see in that article if you read it (there's no spoilers), they did leave room for it to continue and the creator has ideas for multiple seasons. I think it has potential to become even better in the next season based on the crazy ending. I can confirm that they basically ended it in the perfect way, where it serves as enough of a good ending were it to not get renewed, but it also has a lot of potential to keep going IF the audience are there. So please watch/support it! I hope that more people see it when it comes to the US properly, but I'm sure you can find a way in the meantime. And leave it some good ratings/reviews! Also, I can't post on Reddit so I would really appreciate if someone can share my post there or what I said or generally recommend the show to the Walking Dead and Television community over there, especially if you enjoyed the series too and want to see it continue.

6️⃣. Just look at that poster! While Andrew Lincoln's acting in this series was incredible, Ewen Bremner was absolutely stellar as well and the way the actors and characters played off each other had a really effective chemistry. Also, doesn't Andy look like Rick did during the Negan lineup there?!

Why did [Spoiler for The Ones Who Live] threaten [Spoiler]?

Why did Jadis threaten Rick and Michonne that she would have them killed if they tried to escape? Why does she not want them to escape/why does she care if they leave? Would them escaping ruin her deal with the CRM leading to them kicking her out (but they don't let people leave so that doesn't make sense)? Or would she be actually worried that them going to Alexandria would bring the CRM there to attack the community and that would endanger her ex boyfriend Gabriel Stokes? What is her reasoning?

Why didn't they fire Ian Goldberg and Andrew Chambliss years ago?

I'm not trying to insult Fear The Walking Dead, I somewhat enjoy it for some entertainment value, and I wish the showrunners the best of luck with whatever they do now that the show is finishing.

But I've been wondering for a long time, why didn't Scott Gimple or AMC or someone fire those 2 after the terrible trainwrecks of season 4 and 5? What would the actual reason for keeping them on be, after such bad critical reception of those seasons? And now the ratings have just gone down and most people agree the show continued to be bad if not worse with them in charge.

They had already done the same thing previously, by firing Dave Erickson after season 3, despite most people agreeing the first 3 seasons were much better than the rest of the series and season 3 is usually cited as the best (so his firing made no sense. Another thing I'm curious about.)

I understand if Erickon didn't want to come back after they "massacred his boy", but couldn't they find someone else to steer the ship back on course after Goldberg and Chambliss proved they weren't able to make a good show out of it?
