Polestar 2 mysteriously absent from the "25 cars with worst depreciation" list - what gives?

So I was reading this iSeeCars study about 5-year depreciation (shoutout to r/dataisbeautiful) and couldn't help but notice something weird.

The EV segment is getting absolutely hammered - like 57.2% depreciation over 5 years. That's brutal. The top 25 worst performers are basically a who's who of electric cars: Nissan Leaf, VW ID.4, all three Tesla models, Mach-E, Kona Electric, etc.

But where's the Polestar 2? 馃

It's not on the list. At all. Now obviously that doesn't mean it's holding value well - we all know EVs depreciate like rocks. But out of the 25 absolute worst, not a single Polestar.

What are we missing here? Is the 2 actually doing better than the mainstream EVs? Or are we just not selling enough to even register in the data? Polestar volumes are still tiny compared to Tesla or Nissan.

The study looked at 950k+ cars sold over the past year, so there's probably a decent sample size. But maybe the 2's higher starting price keeps it out of the "5-year-old used" pool? Or maybe people who buy Polestars actually keep them?

Would love to hear from anyone who's looked at used Polestar 2 prices. Are they actually better than a used Model 3 or Ioniq 5 from the same year? Or is this just statistical noise?

Polestar 2 _2023 or 2024

Need help here, buying a used Polestar 2.

  1. Polestar2 awd lr pilot+, 60000km 2023 (old type) ... 28545 euro (it did have a problem with fog on the windows especially the rear windows... common problem?)
  2. Polestar2 performance, 20000km 2024 (facelift) .... 38929 euro.

A bit skeptic to tire use on the performance's 20', and perhaps a much harder ride?

Polestars got the impression that polestar 2 are durable for several 100.000 km?

The Polestar 3 isn鈥檛 out yet, and it鈥檚 already getting a big price cut

Good news for anyone looking to buy the Polestar 3. Despite my initial quote, it seems there will be a price drop even on 2024 models.

Also, their website changed recently to show that the Plus package is no longer included in the Performance Pack package so they're going through some changes.

Update 2.9 Has Been Pretty Great

I鈥檝e been rocking OTA 2.9 on my Polestar 2 for a few weeks now, and I have to say, it鈥檚 been an impressive update.

One of the standout features for me has been the improved efficiency app. It鈥檚 a fantastic addition that I鈥檝e been enjoying watching the graph change based on my driving and the road.

There was a poll a while back about Pilot Assist holding too far to the right or left. It was interesting to see mixed responses. Some folks agreed while others claimed they hadn鈥檛 experienced the issue at all.

I was one of the unlucky ones who experienced a problem on a particular stretch of highway where Pilot Assist would uncomfortably stick to the right side of the lane. However, with update 2.9, I haven鈥檛 encountered this problem again on the same stretch of road. It鈥檚 worth noting that there haven鈥檛 been any documented changes to how Pilot Assist functions, nor any modifications to the road (like repainting the lane markings, for instance).

All in all, I believe the 2.9 update is a significant step in the right direction for the Polestar 2. It鈥檚 great to see the company actively working on improving the driving experience. Kudos to the development team!
