Newish to Area
cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/46033088
I just found Lemmy, following my life partner here, and I've only been in the area for a couple years. We are spiritually inclined writers, philosophers, and doodleboppers. He's a Buddhist programmer, linguist, and an amazing cook. I'm more of an occult juggler, self-proclaimed propagandist, and a real big pain in the ass to the government. Really, we're just really weird, but SMRT, kinda. If you know who Terence McKenna and Alan Watts are, you'll prolly jive with us. Expect compassion.
Teacher’s aide accused of having sex with Avondale eighth grader. Court records said the pair talked about having “rough intercourse” that “could cause a miscarriage.”

It was the ninth record-breaking day out of the last 10 in an unprecedented March heat wave that began March 18.

Dry air reduces the risk of corrosion and electrical issues in the sensitive equipment in the data centers. The lack of humidity in water-stressed regions, such as the southwest United States, makes it an attractive location for data centers. This means that the regions in which it is “best” to locate a data center due to its arid environment has the highest marginal cost in terms of water consumption.
In the Phoenix area alone, there are more than 58 data centers. If each data center uses 3 million gallons of water per day for cooling, that equates to more than 170 million gallons of drinking water used per day for cooling data centers. This massive consumption of drinking water for data center cooling puts a strain on the already fragile water supply and raises ethical questions about prioritizing the needs of tech giants over the basic needs of residents and agriculture.

Just looking to create some discussion over time.
I'm curious to hear informed opinions; I'm the type who wants to run away from home as quickly as possible, so I'm biased against it; but, I have to say, comparing it to many of the other developing metro areas in the US, it seems to come out looking pretty good.
Best Pizza?
We should get some of the old arguments started here.
Let's start with a classic: What is the best Pizza in the Phoenix metro area?
Daily discussion tread?
