How do you keep paper flat when engraving?

Hello, I have a sculpfun C1 that I've started using recently.

An issue I'm running into now is that the cartolina I'm using to engrave is waving a bit under the machine. I secured it at the corners with masking tape, aligned it to a template cutout made from the same cartolina.

The wave is sometimes 2 to 3 mm high, which is enough that the removable protection will catch and unlock off the laser (magnet).

How do you keep paper flat ?

Update: I removed an underlying Carolina, and taped the metal protection directly to the same wood slab as the machine. Also, I try not to laser engrave when it's raining so moisture can't cause as much waving!

Laser Bed Nail Board

cross-posted from: https://lemmy.world/post/127789

I made a couple of laser bed nail boards for my Creality Falcon Module on my Ender 3 V2.

I originally made this model for a nail board, that used the bamboo cutting board from Dollar Tree.

I started by making a template in Fusion 360 and exporting a DXF file for LightBurn. (The export is completely doable with a personal license - with just a few extra steps)

And glued some magnets on the bottom to keep them from moving around.

I used:

2 ea. Dollar Tree Bamboo board

1 ea. Dollar Tree 9 x 13 Aluminum pan

3 ea. Home Depot #16 x 1-1/4in Wire Nails (1oz package)
