Yale should win this one handily.
Most of the Ivy League games this week are covered in the other conference matchup posts.
Yale V Fairfield is the only one that is not.
Yale should win this one handily.
University of North Carolina V Brown:
UNC has the one two punch in the game with Petramala and Duffy. Also the team is a whose who of LAX greats kids. Thing is, all those kids are really good at the game.
Prediction: UNC wins
University of Virginia V Towson.
UVA has been in rebuilding mode for three years and Towson is located in “The State of Lacrosse”. SO both teams have plenty of almosts.
Prediction UVA wins.
Duke V Air Force
As is the tradition, Duke is 6 games into the season and has yet to play a remotely competitive team.
Prediction: Duke Wins
Maryland V Delaware:
Maryland is 1 and 3 and their season is in crises. Maryland cannot lose another game this year this year if they hope to have a post season.
Prediction: Maryland Wins
Michigan V Harvard:
Harvard, like many Ivy League schools, is looking really good this year.
Prediction: Harvard Wins
Rutgers V Princeton:
This is the battle for New Jersey, Unfortunately for Rutgers Princeton is an absolute War Wagon this year.
Prediction: Princeton Wins
Ohio State V Notre Dame:
OSU has invested so much into LAX, unfortunately they have always been the bridesmaid, and never the bride. This year looks no different.
Prediction: Notre Dame Wins
Johns Hopkins V Syracuse:
These two teams are 1 and 2 for the most national title wins in history. So this is a battle of THE two blueblood teams.
Prediction: JHU Wins
Penn State V Cornell:
The battle of the Dark Horse teams. Both teams are so hard to figure out.
Prediction: PSU wins.
The Ivy League season begins this weekend.

Dartmouth V Boston University: BU has a top tier Goalie and Dartmouth is historically a mess.
Perdition: BU wins
Here are the ACC matchups for this weekend.

Perdition: Lehigh Wins
Penn State V Princeton: Princeton is a preseason top five team and PSU has been a mess this year.
Prediction: Princeton Wins
Johns Hopkins V Loyola: Every team in Mayland wants to beat two teams, Hopkins and Maryland. Unfortunately for Loyola they just don’t have the fire power this year.
Predition: Hopkins wins
Ohio State V Airforce: The military academies have one hand tied behind their back when it comes to sports, EXCEPT lacrosse. Lacrosse does not have the financial opportunities post graduation that other sports do and the lacrosse physique is beneficial to military life. Hence why Army has the success it does.
Predition: Ohio State Wins
Man, this Friday is a big time Match. Number 1 Maryland V Number 2 Syracuse playing in the dome at Syracuse.
It is wild that we get this big of a game this early in the season.
John Tillman (Head Coach Maryland) is the gold standard for Coaching in Lacrosse and is the master at building super teams. The 2022 Squad is one of the greatest of all time. Will his 2026 team be on that level?
If so, that will be tested this Friday Night.
Gary Gait (Head Coach Syracuse) is listed as the greatest midfielder to ever play the game. What he did as a player was unreal. He once scored a goal from behind the net!.. by jumping over top of it…. His primary attack-man is Joey Spallina who is on the verge of breaking all of Gait’s records. The Syracuse squad is hungry for a nation title and ..
the quest for that will be tested this Friday Night.

Preseason polls are what they are. Fortunately for lacrosse what a team does in the season is all that matters.
So since this place seems like my personal instance/community I will keep posting.
Per Insider Lacrosse here is the D1 Top Ten:
This season is starting off right. This Saturday UMD and Richmond will open the season against each other. Also the Terps as usual have a brutal schedule in there first four games three of the teams are in the top ten and the fourth team is a bitter in-state rival.
I am lucky enough to live in The State of Lacrosse and it am a huge Terps fan. This is going to be a fun season.
Who you got for this week’s Big East Match Ups.
Georgetown v Loyola: This will be a rough outing for both teams. Both teams have great coaches and are in fertile recruiting grounds.
Loyola Wins
UPDATE: Game Postponed
Providence V Holy Cross: Providence makes noise every now and then and I think the Friars will win this one.
Providence Wins
UPDATE: Providence wins
Denver V Cleveland St. This is a body bag game through and through. The Pios will win this one easily.
Denver Wins
UPDATE: Denver wins
Who you got for this week’s ACC games.
The only ACC game this weekend is Duke v Bellarmine. John Danowski is a living legend and clearly believes in the idea that the game teaches best. Therefore Duke always seems to play a lot of games.
Duke Wins.
What are your picks for this weekend’s Big Ten Games:
Michigan wins.
UPDATE: Michigan win
I am picking the Upset
Jacksonville Wins
UPDATE: Rutgers win
Maryland Wins
UPDATE: Game Postponed
Hopkins wins.
Joey Spallina will be wearing the famous 22 Jersey for Syracuse.
The best attackmen in history is Mikey Powell and he wore the #22.
The best midfielder in history is Gary Gait and he wore the #22.
Spallina wore it last year and is clearly able to handle the pressure of wearing that number at Cuse.
In the 90s Andrew Wipple started the tradition of UMD’s most dangerous attack player wearing the #1 Jersey. That tradition has evolved to the #1 being worn by the teams most valuable player. There have been nine players who have worn the #1 since Wipple and the last three have been two defenders and a goalie.
This year it will be worn by attackman Eric Spanos. He had 55 goals last year.
Two great players are now coaches at their Alma Maters:
Irelan is now an assistant coach at Hopkins.
Shelly is now an assistant coach at UVA: https://www.insidelacrosse.com/article/all-time-cavalier-shellenberger-returns-to-virginia-as-assistant-marquette-villanova-hire-alums/65636
Ierlan played most of his career at Cornell before transfering to Hopkins so I did not see him play during most of his career. I am more familiar with his brother the face off expert.
I did see a lot of Shellenberger at UVA. He was an amazing D1 player and I salute him. He grew up in Charlottesville, was one of the best players UVA had and is now a star in the PLL.
He will be a great coach. I am sure both will be. The question is how will they do as recruiters. That is the bread and butter of any college program.
It is going to be an interesting weekend. This is the last weekend off the regular season before the playoffs and all teams have something to play for. Though not all teams control their own destiny.
V
The Boston Cannons can clinch a playoff berth with a win in either of their two games.
Even if the Cannons loss they may still get in with a Waterdogs loss to the Atlas and the score differential tiebreaker over Philly.
V
The Chaos clinched their spot in the playoffs last week by upsetting the Denver Outlaws at home.
The Archers must beat the Chaos on Friday night and the Archers need California to lose to Boston on Friday and to overturn the nine-point score differential tiebreak margin to the Woods in the process.
V
New York can clinch the No. 1 seed with any one of three things: A win against the Philadelphia Waterdogs, a Cannons loss in one of their two games, or a score differential tiebreaker over Boston. The Atlas currently have a +16 score differential relative to the Cannons’ -3 differential, so they’re in a good spot.
The Waterdogs can make the playoffs in one of three scenarios. The simplest is by beating the Atlas on Saturday. A Whipsnakes loss to the Cannons on Saturday night would also ensure that Philly makes the playoffs.
V
The Whipsnakes have not had a good year but they are not done yet. They need to beat the Cannons and then they need help. The Whipsnakes also need either the Cannons to lose to the Woods or the Waterdogs to lose to the Atlas.
Denver v Chaos!
Interesting storyline this game Logan McNaney his old DC is one of his defenders!
The weekend is upon us so who you got?
V
I am going with Denver. Denver is firing on all cylinders at all three levels of the game. Also hats off to the coaching staff for herding all of that talent.
The wild card on this game is Blaze Riordan. If he stands on his head. Who knows.
V
This one is a tough call. It is. Do or die for Boston but the Waterdogs backs are also against the wall.
I am going with Philadelphia.
V
Will Denver be worn out from playing earlier?
LMAO NO.
Denver
V
California started out hot and then fell off a cliff.
Unfortunately the Whipsnakes are an utter disaster and alas it seems my man Rambo is washed.
California wins this one.
