The Mysterious Blanket.

publicação cruzada de: https://lemmy.world/post/48496781

This quilt was in a thrift store in Vacaville, CA, a few years ago and was posted on a Facebook page I'm part of dedicated to weird thrift store items. I'm not the person who posted it, but I've been intrigued ever since. The person who took this photo doesn't have it; she was scared of it and only took this photo.

Observations: it's probably a glass of water, not jelly. It's blue, jelly doesn't run like that. tears?

The "bacon" is the sandwich, but on its side, as you can tell by the same color as the crust of the bread. If it were bacon, it would be red like the lid

There is an x or - or + where the sandwich touches all three items, gate, mail and phone

envelope, microwave, oven, bed or something else?

gate, fence or fries? From above, I would say it's a gate, it also has a handle

quilt-inception, the phone has the same number of buttons as the squares in the quilt

A story starting with blue read from left to right, then brown, still without any real meaning

Communication quilt? No. no one will want soggy peanut butter bread

Watergate / eleição Carter

Misheard Song Lyrics / Inside Joke

Penicillin

You can add water to stale bread and bake it to make it fresh again

A scientific experiment with moldy bread, but never made with peanut butter, from what I can tell

All starting with p?

Something to do with prison

What are your theories?

Slimer.com - A weird site I remembered

Slimer.com is a weird site I remember someone found a while ago in r/internetmysteries. or the subreddit this community is based off.

I actually made a search for info with a guy once like- a year or two ago. I didn't record any of it but it should give some info if you decide to look into it yourself:

The site has had recent changes, so it's still active. It's changed many times, and apparently the original site owner might of sold it but it isn't fully clear

The thing is this site has always been weird. In random snapshots of the site on Archive.org you can find some pretty weird things:

  • A midi of "Excorcist" (More random than anything.)
  • Actual link to some PERSONAL files of the creator
  • Weird writing in a cipher.
  • Hidden pages & Text

It's modern day site has also some other weird things

  • A bot that I haven't tested that asks you what you want.
  • A page that "scans" for a "USB Key" to get in to a members area.
  • Unknown PGP key, and other contact stuff.

I remember getting up to the linkedin of the guy who actually made the original version of the site, but I'm not sure at all about the current site. From my browser the archive.org snapshots are completely broken for me. if this is isn't the case for others, that would be good to know.

If anyone ends up caring about this mystery, talk to me about it- it's been a long time and I don't even use the same drive that I would of stored the stuff, but I could help!
