First fixed gear build I've done by myself!

I've been riding fixed for a few years, and even though I love my Fuji Feather, I wanted to get a nicer bike and build it up by myself. This is the result!

::: spoiler Specs:

  • Frame: Mash Steel Neon Blue/Green Fade
  • Headset: Chris King NoThreadSet Black Sotto Voce
  • Bottom Bracket: Sugino MB608
  • Chainring: Sugino Zen 47T
  • Cranks: Sugino 75 DD2
  • Chain: Izumi ES410 Black
  • Pedals/Straps: Wellgo B219B with YNOT Cordura Straps
  • Cogs: Dura Ace Track cog 16T and BLB Track Sprocket 18T
  • Hubs: Mack Superlight Low Flange
  • Rims: H+SON Archetypes
  • Tires: Continental Gator Hardshell BE
  • Stem: Bontrager Pro Blendr Stem with 2 GoPro mounts (one SP-Connect for my phone and one for my light)
  • Handlebar/Tape: 74GRAD Bullhorn Bar with Fizik Tempo Microtex Classic 2mm
  • Brake/Lever: Shimano BR R353 with a DIA COMPE Goldfinger
  • Seatpost/Saddle: some Matrix Seatpost with an old saddle my dad had lying around :::

Yes, I have reflectors on my bike, unfortunately it's mandated where I live and I don't want to start an argument with the police, since only having one brake is already a legal gray-area and I don't want to push my luck.

Otherwise, this bike has been great fun! I currently have the back wheel flipped to the 18T cog, cause I'm learning a few tricks. When I'm back in shape, doing some more local alleycat races to get some more spoke cards, I'll swap back to 47:16 though.

Also, I love the color. It looked nice on the website, but irl it's just as wild. When it's overcast, the bike almost seems to glow, I don't know if the pictures do it justice.

I'm also thinking about upgrading the saddle. It's not horrible, but definitely doesn't fit with the rest of the bike. I'll just keep my eyes peeled for good offers in my local community, maybe I'll find something better!

Rode my first century (metric) this weekend

Got into fixed riding this winter, challenged myself to ride 1000 miles this year on my 1988 schwinn Premis. Built a rear wheel with a flip flop hub, and I’ve been cruising ever since.

I signed up to do the half century (50k) as a challenge for me on my birthday, but once I was riding with the pack, I got caught up and did the whole 100k.

A bit sore in the sitbones and groin area, but overall feeling really good!

I was the only one riding single speed, let alone fixed! Got some props and shoutouts along the way though.

10/10, Will do again next year.

(Can’t figure out how to add a photo—always fails to upload for some reason)

Springtime, time to revive this community!

Or am I the last fixed gear rider out here?

This one's a bit of a beast — a fixed gear touring gravel bike (?)
Cinelli Tutto frame, bought online in size M (I'm 5'8/172cm), and it needed a seat post with setback, a saddle with long rails scooted all the way back, and all the spacers to make it fit.
I guess I'm tall for Italian standards.

Mounted the widest tires it would take, the lightest rack I could find, and the bare minimum in accessories to make it kinda street legal.
It's the silliest bike I ever built, and it makes me smile every single time I ride it.
