Highly subjective: Moments when your preferred the album version over the single

I've been adding new tracks into my crates, and I can't help but favor the original or album version over the single, club, or extended edit.

As a DJ, you tend to favor extended or club because it gives you more time, it's designed for the dance floor... but I'm now at a cross roads where I prefer the album or original version.

If you ever felt this way, feel free to share your examples.

I've regrettably ignored search bar touch strips for way too long...

I've been using Traktor gear since 2010. It's not the only gear I use, but it's the majority of equipment I have. The only time I've ever used search bar touch strips was on CDJ 2000s and up. I don't have a pair of CDJ 2000s, but when I DJed at other peoples' events, I'd notably use them to quickly preview tracks while mixing. This would help me know if the next song I want to play was the right song, or had the right energy.

About a week ago, I picked up a Numark Mixtrack Pro 3. I didn't need it, but the seller sold it super cheap, and I figured I could "flip it" and sell it off (seller said they had issues; I fixed said issues).

I decided to play around with the controller, get the idea or the feel for the unit. I'll be honest: I was impressed. The build quality was much better than I imagined, the lights were something I appreciated, and out of all features that were lacking in my Traktor gear, touch strips to skim through tracks were very useful for me.

Just like on CDJs when I was previewing incoming tracks in my mix, I'd use the touch strips to jump around in the songs, and it saved me quite a lot of time. In Traktor, they have "beatjump", which is a nifty tool, but it is a lot of "twisting" the knob, even when you set the beatjump to a higher rate (16, 32, and etc.). The fact that a touch strip can jump through a track in one push, saved me from constantly twisting knobs.

I'm not sure if this justifies me holding onto the controller. I could possibly sell it still. But I was just surprised that touch strips would have had an impact in DJing live events, to the point that it makes me question which I preferred to use.

Christina Hendricks played an indie-packed “shoe pop dream gaze” DJ set at a San Diego bar on April Fool’s Day

The *Mad Men” star announced that she would be behind the decks for a stint at the city’s Part Time Lover bar on Wednesday (April 1), and actually showed up to play what has been dubbed a “shoe pop dream gaze” set entirely on vinyl.

Folks that DJ on the fediverse: What are your thoughts and recommendations so far?

I'm looking to start a PeerTube channel, incorporating some DJ livestreaming and other content, but I've noticed that folks haven't been consistent on their posting.

Some folks have posted live streams from 7~5 years ago, but I don't see anything that's consistently monthly or regular. Why is that?

Also, do copyright music infringements apply if I were to play a mix that has that type of content?

Folks that already DJ on the fediverse, via PeerTube or otherwise, what are your commendations and thoughts?

Rekordbox updates are the worst

All other apps:

Surprise, you are using the latest version that got set up in the background the last time you ran this app and waited until a restart to update so as not to distract you.

Rekordbox:

  • you want to open me? sigh, FINE!

  • ......

  • Oh wait, there's an incremental update, do you want to either skip it entirely of add 10 minutes to the wait time to use this app?

  • Now that's done I'm going to ask if you want to uninstall the old version because this wasn't really an update, it was a completely new app that just got installed because that makes sense.

  • What do you mean you pinned the old version to the start menu?! That's gone now because fuck you.

  • Also the new version is in a folder in the app menu for no reason.

  • Here's a desktop shortcut for you to delete.

  • GROOVE CIRCUIT FACTORY SAMPLES are back where they should be. Why are you removing them again?
