Critical Role‘s Campaign 4 is just around the corner. The fourth core chapter of the beloved TTRPG actual play series is on the way, and this time, it will be helmed by Brennan Lee Mulligan—yes, for the first time in 10 years, Matt Mercer won’t be the game’s Game Master, he’ll be in the player’s seat. Of course, he’s not the only one. Critical Role recently revealed an all-star cast of season D&D players who would be taking a seat at Campaign 4‘s table. But who they would play remained a secret… Until now. Critical Role Campaign 4 has officially revealed the character name and official character art for each of its 13 cast members/players. Let’s take a look at all the new adventurers we’ll meet in Aramán.
In Critical Role Campaign 4, the characters will be divided into three groupsOpens in a new tab: the Soldiers, the Seekers, and the Schemers. In short, the soldiers are “are the people who are interested in a traditionally charged combat and conflict-driven story mode—where the non-violent answers were few and far between.” The Seekers are “people that tie directly into lore, cosmology, magic, big questions around problems facing this universe that are in the weave of the dance between divinity and arcane, and magic, and demons, and fairies, and dragons, and these big kinds of questions. It’s very classical fantasy.” And the Schemers are into “intrigue, espionage, skullduggery, and relationships with each other and other NPCs and instituations and the machinations of power. Their adventuring looks like cloak and dagger.”
We believe that the Soldiers will wear orange/red. The Seekers will wear blues and purples. And the Schemers will wear teal/green.
Matt Mercer Will Play Sir Julien Davinos. If we’re correct in our estimations, Matt Mercer’s character will be one of the soldiers. Sir Julien Davinos also appears to be a human fighter or maybe a rogue.
Travis Willingham will play Teor Pridesire. He seems to be a Leonin paladin or maybe a monk. We believe Travis Willingham’s character will be part of the Seekers.
Laura Bailey will play Thimble, who seems like she belongs to the Schemers group if her grin is anything to go by. We think Thimble is likely a fairy rogue.
Taliesin Jaffe will play Bolaire Lathalia. If you ask us, Bolaire Lathalia is Jigsaw from the Saw movies OR perhaps a changeling warlock, we’ll take either. Taliesin Jaffe’s character looks to be part of the Soldiers in Critical Role Campaign 4.
Ashley Johnson will play Vaelus, who appears to be a drow cleric or sorcerer. Ashley Johnson’s character looks like they belong to the crew of Seekers in Critical Role Campaign 4.
Liam O’Brien will play Halandil Fang. Halandil Fang is a future Tusk Love cover model and/or/plus a half-orc bard. We love him already. We bet Liam O’Brien’s character joins the Soldiers in Critical Role Campaign 4. He is giving Chris Pine in the Dungeons & Dragons movie.
Marisha Ray will play Murray Mag’nesson who appears to be a dwarven wizard or maybe a bard. We’d bet that Marisha Ray’s character will join the Schemers.
Sam Riegel will play Wicander Halovar who looks like a aasimar wizard or maybe a cleric. Sam Reigel’s character will most likely be a Schemer if his outfit has anything to say about it.
Luis Carazo will play Azune Nayar coming across as a human paladin and definetly a Soldier.
Robbie Daymond will play Kattigan Vale who looks like a human ranger or maybe a druid or barbarian. We’re into his vibes. We’re also into Robbie Daymond’s character seemingly being a Seeker.
Aabria Iyengar will play Thaisha Lloy who seems to be a half-orc sorcerer or warlock. Aabria Iyengar’s character looks like she’ll be part of the Soldiers in Critical Role Campaign 4.
Whitney Moore will play Tyranny who looks like a tiefling cleric or maybe something unexpected like a monk. We feel like Tyranny is absolutely a Schemer.
Alex Ward will play Occtis Tachonis. Occtis Tachonis reads like a human artificer/alchemist to us. We bet that Alex Ward’s character will be a Seeker based on their mystical-looking pets. These cuties could be his familiars or maybe homunculi. He could also be a reanimator artificier, one of the Unearthed Arcana classes from D&D.

Welcome to tonight's episode of Critical Role. We are returning. So much has happened. We have been here as all of our adventurers of Aramán have returned here to Dol-Makjar.
It is opening night of "KoTher'ai" which has reconnected the orcish afterlife to Aramán after 70 years of it being lost post the death of the Shapers.
We also found ourselves in this moment seeing the inner machinations of the Sundered Houses. Wicander Halovar and Tyranny back in the good graces of the Candescent Creed. To witness the impromptu alliance trial and accusations heaped at Primus Tachonis about the Deva Vindicta and his various plans. And we saw him basically (after all of this evidence that had been compiled by the different adventurers over time) be unable to say anything other than,
"Yeah, we tried to, but isn't out alliance more important than life or death? After all look at the grand work we are here to do."
The Lady Amariya Dacen Cormoray showed up. Termina (a member of the Panto and Bolaire's sister) arrived back. Who seemed to have gotten out of the box. She is out and about doing her thing.
We also have our friends at Obrimus Manor that have just turned the Lady Dame Gaya Seremai back into an undead summon of Occtis Tachonis in their search to rescue Mara the Wing from Obrimus Manor (which they have precious little time to do while the Tachonis are out at this meeting of the Sundered Houses).
Afterlife's discovered, play's opening night, druids attempting to be rescued, trying to hold up the Tachonis family at this meeting for as long as possible, and Kattigan Vale captured by Tyranny's sisters (dumped out of a sack to see that the Lord of House Tachonis is none other than the sorcerer who murdered his wife and child all those years ago). Kattigan, the claws of the demons wrap around your arms and begin to pull you from the room along with Wuleric as you see Petra and Ryah Tachonis gesturing to the lords to vacate. You see Primus doesn't seem to register you at all and begins to walk to the head of the table to engage in private conversation with Yanessa Halovar.
Wick, you are still in the room, but I think, Tyranny, you are following Kattigan out with the demons. Filoneus is coming with them.
Kattigan, you are being pulled through the doorway as you see Primus there. What is occurring with you? What do you do in this moment?

Welcome once again to the city of Dol-Makjar. Having arrived back from various adventures across the face of Aramán, our Soldiers returning Talcydimir Pridesir (now reconstituted in his own body and here to help). Our Seekers bringing news of far-off Tannesar and the workings of House Tachonis. And our Schemers (who have been hard at work setting up for a great meeting of the Sundered Houses), the opening night of Hal's play "KoTher'ai", and indeed making alliance with King Augustus Valian of Timmony.
We find ourselves returned to The Tanners (the selfsame neighborhood with one of Thjazi Fang's hideouts) where Teor first found Thimble on the night of Thjazi's funeral.
And up on the hill overlooking The Tanners in the darkest, dimmest, most shadowy and gloomy place of Dol-Makjar is Obrimus Manor. You approach the gothic estate, high stone walls topped with wrought-iron spikes (a grounds built into the mountainside) massive keep and adjoining gatehouses' spires and smaller towers.
Gazing out, you see that the central massive door of the manor stands in a huge stone arch. The door is painted a lightless (the opposite of glossy, it is a deep matte) black such that it looks like it just fades into shadow itself. And above it, two tall, arching windows give the manor and its central keep the appearance of a yawning skull overlooking Dol-Makjar.

Take a peek behind the scenes with our talkback show Inside The Legend of Vox Machina! Join some of our cast and crew as we discuss the making of the first half of Season 4.
Ahead of The Legend of Vox Machina’s Season 4 premiere on Prime Video, Collider’s Steve Weintraub had the pleasure of moderating an exclusive Q&A with the Critical Role crew, following a screening of Episodes 1 and 2, "One Year Later…" and "Trial by Water." With the first three episodes now streaming, we’re thrilled to share the full conversation, where Matthew Mercer, Sam Riegel, Taliesin Jaffe, Liam O’Brien, Ashley Johnson, Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, and Travis Willingham spent the evening dropping Easter eggs, cracking up the audience (and themselves), and examining these characters they’ve spent so much time with.
In Season 4, our ragtag team of heroes finds themselves reconvening a year after the devastation of the Chroma Conclave. In that year apart, they’ve been on their own respective journeys, discovering new love and purpose. Now, Vox Machina has been reunited through mysterious circumstances that all lead back to a cult dedicated to “The Whispered One,” with the promise of a brand-new adventure ahead of them — but where’s Scanlan (Riegel)?!
Don’t miss the full panel, where Riegel desperately tries to rein in the shenanigans of his friends, dropping teases for a Campaign 3 character, Easter eggs, Scanlan's whereabouts, and the status of the fifth and final season of The Legend of Vox Machina. The Critical Role team takes us on a wild ride, from introspective questions about their careers and their Vox Machina characters to off-the-wall fits of giggles and “skexual” tension (Liam calls Travis daddy — “Happy Pride!”). Plus, we finally hear Trinket’s true voice in the series, Bailey teases a new dynamic between Vex and Keyleth, and Johnson does everything in her power not to spoil the show.
The Legend of Vox Machina, Season 4, is releasing new episodes on Prime Video every Wednesday.

We return to Dol-Makjar as many of our heroes now rush throughout the city (knowing that tonight as the sun sets), Hero D'vyen will have hopefully concluded her basilisk potion; her anti-petrification potion.
We are going to return to walking away from the Villa Aurora. Halandil Fang, Thaisha Lloy, and Kattigan Vale are moving away. But I'm interested in who you left behind...
Which is a snake! Hala, your animal companion in snake form, correct?
I would say (as the day is growing longer here), Hal, you may not have time to go to both. Thjazi's grave is all the way up on the mountainside. Just think about the size of the city.
Thaisha, you going to Thjazi's grave will (if you rush that, you will) be getting back to the Archanade around midnight. It's a steep climb up the mountain and everything else. But you have no time to waste and that would mean that Hal, you would basically miss dress rehearsal.
We sat down for a long-play interview with Matt Mercer, Marisha Ray, Laura Bailey, Sam Riegel, and Talesin Jaffe from Critical Hole— I mean Critical Role! Watch season 4 of Vox Machina NOW on Amazon Prime and catch campaign 4 Thursday nights on Twitch, YouTube, or Beacon

So many people said stuff.
Welcome to tonight's episode of Critical Role. A very special episode, may I say. Holy smokes, there's a lot of people at this table! God, I'm about to get my ass kicked.
Last we left off, a whole series of adventures had happened. Our tables had converged and we are now here approaching the home of Halandil Fang. Normally this would be where I, as your Dungeon Master, would recap events of the previous episodes (or indeed arcs at yet) given the events that are soon to unfold, I think it far more likely that others will be telling these storied tales.
So, without any further ado, we return to Dol-Makjar (the Rookery), the home of Halandil Fang.
Magpies take to the sky. The last time all of these heroes of Aramán were here was to bid farewell to Thjazi Fang (who now lies interred on the mountainside above The Rookery). Approaching this place, birds take flight, gray clouds rumble ominously in the distance and Hal approaches along with Thaisha, Occtis, Vaelus, and Sir Julien Davinos. Azune, you conclude your meeting with Lord Einfasen at the Archanade, telling him (I believe) that you will be meeting with him?

The cast of Critical Role head backstage at Gas South Arena to discuss the events of our Maelstrom Kingdom one- shot!
We’re so excited to return to the blighted Halcyon Domain on Thursday, July 9th, as we follow five misfits seeking solace within the mysteries of a new region: The Sallowlands. This swathe of cracked badlands holds secrets that could lead them to salvation – or into the jaws of ancient horror.
This all-new, six-part Daggerheart mini-series will be led by Game Master Matthew Mercer as he brings players Laura Bailey, Jennifer English, Abubakar Salim, Vico Ortiz, and Zachery Renauldo through a brand new standalone adventure!
The Halcyon Domain is a bleak realm, rotting in the wake of its Pantheon’s abandonment, where ancient wonders now crumble slowly into ruin. The Sallowlands region expands upon the world explored in the first Age of Umbra mini-series and will tell a completely new tale when a surprising development sends a group of outcasts and survivors off the edges of the map in search of answers.
Significant lore drop for those seeking more information about our favorite Paladorc (Sorcadin), Azune Nayar.

Folks, it's my delight and privilege to invite us [you?] to a big ol' heapin' helping of Critical Role!
What an adventure do we have in store tonight.
Last we left off with our Schemers. You had just prevented the assassination of King Augustus Valian of Timmony. And are witness to an assassination not being prevented (but instead canceled) by one Photarch Yanessa Halovar, who appears to have resurrected herself with the beaming power of the Light.
Azune, you look down at the ground, still stick with the blood from your sister (who you have healed; saved her life) and she has vanished using a dangerous spell glyph to disappear in this moment.
Hal, you've rushed across the Archanade at the gala, celebrating the soon-to-be opening night of "KoTher'ai" (your play at the Hallowed Round). Looking out and forward, you see that you've essentially defeated this minister in private combat (and no one even knows that happened; they'll just see a shattered library).
You guys watched as: an invisible spellcaster vanished, Mayali Nayar vanished, but the Dominate Person was broken on King Gus' druid advisor, the Hounds of the King are back up.
I think you guys see in this moment, the crowd looking at the radiant appearance of Yanessa Halovar descend as Filoneus drops to his knees in reverent adoration of his mother. Yanessa Halovar looks out and says,
"All shall be made whole. The Beam reaches us all in time. This act of darkness and wickedness will not be allowed to stand."
You see that she reaches out to King Gus and heals him back to full health. Gus looks at her as people begin to weep and applaud.
You look out and see some of the bystanders here. Many of them seem touched with a true religious zeal (as they have witnessed a miracle) and for the first time since the age of the Shapers have witnessed a resurrection occur. King Gus looks, and she says
"Death has no place on the path of the righteous."
Filoneus says,
"She has returned!"
And a cheer from many of the faithful and some Halovar soldiers goes up. Gus turns to look and says,
"No place in the path of the righteous.."
and walks wordlessly away from the Photarch towards his fallen knight at the threshold (who was referred to as Carbrady; killed by an assassin). Gus just moves there, leaving the interaction with the Photarch.
