Multi-monitor ultrawide Gran Turismo on PlayStation 2

Did you know this was a thing? If you happen to have three TVs, consoles, and copies of Gran Turismo 3 or 4 lying around, you can hook them together to a wide cockpit view. Reasonable to a sim racer, but to me it would've been the most ballin PS2 setup ever.

GT3 uses i.LINK (FireWire) to connect the consoles, while GT4 uses the network adapter. Supposedly GT4 supports up to 6 screens!

I don't have three, let alone six of any of those things, but dang I wish I did.

You can fix a memory card with zip ties

I have a couple well worn memory cards. It seems that they like to break in a way that makes the pcb retract into the shell. I looked at what I could stuff in the back to stop this and found that zip ties do the job.

The extra glue is there to slow down a crack that could break a piece off. The result isn't great, but it's also not too bad.

Here's a picture of a good card — see how the board is held in place by two tiny plastic posts. Great design.

Which version of mClassic is better for PS2 3D games: Original or Retro?

I want to play a 3D PS2 game that runs in 480i, but I will force it to output in 480p using GSM. I plan to use the following setup: OSSC + mClassic + 4K Gamer Pro. My question is, which mClassic version is better to use in this case — the red one or the green one? Also, is it necessary to use additional HDMI cables between OSSC, mClassic, and 4K Gamer Pro, or can they be connected directly to each other without extra cables?

I did Gusse's IDE Resurrector on my slim 70012.

It took probably 10 hours of troubleshooting going off his troubleshooting guide. There was a tiny short i couldn't even see through my jewelers loupe, but measurements said it was there. So, I scraped between a couple pins with my smallest tweezers, and boom. Done.

Then, after I finished, I discovered there is a newer and better version of this mod, the iFlash2PS2. The IDE Resurrector only supports up to 128GB cards. The iFlash can handle up to 1TB. And it looks like slightly less soldering. So, learn from me. Do the iFlash.

I'm assuming you all know about FMCB, and how to rip your discs to ISO files. If you don't, this is a great way to save your console that won't read discs anymore, like this one I picked up in an "as-is" bin super cheap at a used game store. I'd look up Tito from Macho Nacho's PS2 mod videos.

Here's a pic of my terrible wiring. Yes, that's from a CAT5 cable. The wire is ordered for this mod wasn't small enough and I was too impatient to wait for more. It's very ugly, but it works. You're going to want 30ga to do this right. CAT5 is 24ga, and it barely, barely fits. Honestly, if i get ambitious I might rewire it later. The SD slot wiring is way easier than the board soldering. You can't see it of course, but I know it's there. And I'll have to see it again when I eventually install a Retrogem.

Why won't my PS2 Slim 75001 play SOME DVD's?

Alongside games, I also like to collect DVD's. Because I am a snob, I like to watch my DVD's on the good old Playstation 2 as god intended. However I have been having an issue where my PS2 will not play some of my DVD's.

At first I thought it has something to do with widescreen DVD's as usually those are the ones that don't work most of the time, but that cant be it because:

A) I can play my widescreen Sweeny Todd DVD and it works fine, albiet shrunken to fit the PS2's aspect ratio

B) The problem extends to some DVD's that are not widescreen, like my copy of Matilda which appears to be in 4:3.

My second theory is that it may have something to do with the speed the disk's are being burned at by the companies that make them. My reasoning for thinking this is that whenever I burn my own CD's or DVD's at a faster speed, my PS2 and other older devices struggle to read them; but I have no way of knowing if this is the cause.

Does anybody else know what may be causing this issue?

Why is the quality so bad? How can I improve it?

All PS2 games look really blurry on Panasonic Viera TV.

For comparison, when I play the Jak trilogy on PS5 (which is just the PS2 ports), it has a sharp and crisp image. But the same games on an actual PS2 are much lower quality. This leads me to think there's some scaling issue that the PS5 automatically fixes since I don't think they remastered it or anything. And the same applies to every PS2 game.

It's currently connected via RCA component cables, and I tried messing with the game mode settings on the TV but it didn't really do anything noticeable. I'm wondering if I should buy a PS2 to HDMI converter or if that might be even worse than the current set up. I don't have much money I can spend but if I need to I will, just whatever it takes to get it looking good. It looks like sh*

[Meta] Looking for potential moderators.

Hi all, I’m currently the only mod here and I’ve sadly had to be less active given sizable real life responsibilities. So posting here to see if anyone is up for assisting in mod management? It's still pretty small right now but it's good to get ahead on these early I feel. Some of the other 6th gen communities could also use some as well, but those are currently small enough that I'm starting here first and posting on those later on given the smaller post pool.

If anyone’s interested just comment below and I can get things approved from there, Preferably say any experience you have if applicable.
