It wouldn't inject eggs into a new host of the same species, it would either directly lay new eggs or find another species to inject.
Maybe the only can be approached by a virgin thing is just them seeking out a healthy human host...

Why does it injest eggs off of the grass if the adult injects them into another's throat? Other than that, dope.
Also what's the point of the adult emerging when it's already reproduced? How is there any selection pressure to do that
