Just tuning in now, good Lord this weather is atrocious.

Thanks for creating this post, btw. I tried to make a gameday thread before I went out this morning but it didn't go through in the browser. Wonder if the new Lemmy update is causing that glitch

Edit: woops, wrong account. It's so easy to get mixed up on mobile. Aaand it won't let me switch so I guess I'll be posting from here

After all of the signing day excitement, it’s back to reality with the Miami Hurricanes. Abysmal start against Rutgers.

Boca Raton Bowl:

The officiating in this game is, uh, not good. Both teams kinda getting hosed

5

Yeah unfortunately the orange team can't seem to overcome it. Fortunately the former vols coach is certainly nailing this bowl

What a Gator Bowl..good game Kentucky! Proud of my Tigers. Good luck to everyone else on their bowl games!

5

These are not the A list announcers on the Bad Boy Mowers Pinstripe Bowl 😕

5

Oh man, I really wanted the thicker kicker to be able to get that 65 yarder before half. How do you allow a delay of game?!

I'm so upset that mizzou made me cheer for one of the osus, I just want all sec teams to lose their bowl except mine.

1

Ah, I was just about to get excited about the early pick in the Peach Bowl but that's a bummer it grazed the turf

How did penn state end up wearing blue here? If they were home surely they'd pick white and if they were away they'd surely be forced to wear white?

1

I dunno, but bowl games sometimes opt for weird rules. The color rush in the Cotton Bowl last night was really strange. The helmet communication in some of the games has been a cool thing though (hope that becomes the norm for next season)

2

Texas Bowl: Really not how the aggies wanted to start, wishing for a speedy recovery in the offseason

4

The Arizona Bowl is so hard to watch. The barstool guys are awful commentators. This might be worse than the NBC crew that called the Notre Dame/USC game

Edit: after a few more excruciating minutes, I have decided this is by far the worst football "commentary" I have ever heard in my life

4

Maryland just taking Auburn to the woodshed early in the Music City Bowl. They know it's December, right? Crabbing season is over, they have no business being this scary this time of year

4

Duke's Mayo Bowl:

May the superior Coach Brown win! I will be very disappointed if we don't see Mack get the mayo bath at the end

3

Oh, UNC has a guard playing center? That explains the weird high snap earlier. Might see some more of that tonight... at least the freshman QB looks decent

LA Bowl: the only Boise player that has attempted a pass going into this game is the punter?! That's a crazy factoid

Lol, yes.

I haven't been following FCS (other than hearing the NDSU coach bailed on his team for USC during their playoff run). How are things going there?

3

Well we just had a thrilling double ot finish so I'd say as good as you could hope. I just wonder how fcs in general feels no that the bowls are also a championship tournament.

2

I missed the kickoff of the Independence Bowl and am bummed I missed Cal scoring. Hopefully there's lots of points and the Red Raiders lose (I probably won't be staying up for the end of this one)

The Famous Toastery Bowl is a prime example of how sponsoring a bowl is ineffective marketing. I don't even know what a Toastery even is, much less a famous one. And I know, 99% of marketing is just implanting a brand in your head so when you're staring at a shelf full of different brands you'll go with the one you recognize. But again, I don't even know where to look on a shelf for famous toastery, though I assume bread isle? (I already have a preferred bread brand btw)

3

I'm kind of disappointed I missed this one, but honestly how many people can watch a weekday bowl game at 2pm?

So I'll just pretend I was boycotting it as an unworthy substitute for the Bahamas Bowl

3

Frisco Bowl:

Oof no Frank Harris? Man, I swear if UTSA loses this after I sat through a 2OT Michigan basketball loss to miss the first quarter of this, I will be quite irate I didn't just go to bed

3

Finally some signs of life in the 2nd quarter. But really, UTSA had only 20 yards of offense in the 1st quarter? That is some B1G West shit

3

Military Bowl: I saw that pantone 151c mixed in with all the virgina orange. GBO brother

3

I don't know how I feel about the Pop Tarts mascot. It's silly and fun, but they're going to eat it at the end? Reminds me of King Cheez-It last year or when Duke's announced the mayo bath a few years back. I guess we'll see if it's endearing or creepy when it happens

3

Ah, bummer for K-State to get the punt return TD called off for a block in the back.

I feel like that happens way too often. If you're on return coverage, don't get too eager with blocking since the penalty can almost reverse momentum

2

Even though they're down, Brock Glenn is looking decent in the Orange Bowl (or maybe Georigia's DBs just aren't as good as the rest of their defense)

3

So weird to see LSU wearing purple in the Reliaquest Bowl.

Also, no bloomin' onion or coconut shrimp on the line in this game -- a travesty. Bring back Outback Steakhouse as the sponsor!

2

I feel like the yellow hems on the sleeves are new as well. Those jersey's just seem weird

1

I don't think I've ever seen a less attended NY6 game than this Fiesta Bowl. And from the broadcast it seems there's more Liberty fans than UO fans there

"firequacker of a throw" like honestly does he write these down beforehand?

1

Watching the 68 ventures bowl, what the fuck was that last series of the first half? That was just atrocious and painful to watch

2
lemmy.world

I've always appreciated how inclusive the citrus bowl is. You can have oranges, tangerines, lemons, limes, grapefruits, kumquats, pomelos, The University of Tennessee, citrons, clementines...

2

Yeah, dude's a lanky, nimble son of a gun. I think he's the kind of runner that works best as a qb in the heup system, just kinda elusive and explosive. Obviously can't run downhill the way Joe can, more like hooker in that regard.

1

Love that we're continuing to own the ground game, but I wanna see the air attack start to come alive more

1

Gasparilla Bowl is tied at half time!

I'll be honest, I thought UCF was going to run away with this one. But also, I thought UCF's kicker was a lot more clutch than I guess he has been lately? Can't believe he missed the 30 yarder just before half.

2

But seemingly not for GA, as much as I hate to say it.

2

I mean if they were in the cfp they wouldn't have had as many opt outs... I fuckin hate that attitude, and the announcers are really driving home how few opt outs ga had
