Debenhams to be replaced by two tower blocks
Not only is Premier Inn being replaced with two tower blocks, now Debenhams will be ripped down and replaced with two tower blocks.
These will really dominate the skyline in that area of the city.

We really do need a new vision for our city. Tower blocks aren't the answer, (outgoing) Marvin.
I think an a new street from Broadmead to the Bear Pit would help make Stokes Croft feel more connected to the rest of town. The buildings proposed are pretty uninspired and look like every other new block of flats.
Lol, if the developers think Bristol Council is about to pay for a new library they need to pay more attention to local politics.
When I was a kid, riding up and down the Debenhams escalators was exciting but I suppose that's probably not a good enough reason to keep them around!
Surely that's a good thing?
They're sure as hell not to be social lets or affordable homes.
I was firmly in the camp of 'why isn't there enough really affordable homes/lets' but a post I saw the other day made me consider a different point of view...
As long as the homes are inhabited, building unaffordable isn't necessarily a bad thing as it increases the housing stock overall.
