No. The specific depictions going into pd are very narrowly focused.

Well I for one can't wait to purchase the first porno featuring the named characters steamboat willie taking it up the bum from Tigger while Minnie cries.

Christopher Robin, what exactly is "Rule 34"?

Well, I'm told it means, "Going along, jerking to all the things you can conceive of, and not bothering."

Then why did they bother extending copyright in the 90s?

2

The stopping point is completely arbitrary. You could've also said the same about the 90s copyright extension.

I think it was MatPat on YouTube who said that Disney knows this and included that specific Mickey in their trademark as a way to protect it under different laws.

14

Exactly right. They are attempting to incorporate it into their actual branding iconography so that they can argue it's trademark.

6

Jokes on Disney, I'm making my porno about Captain Pete, who drives his steamboat down the river, picking up floozies and spitting tobacco up their butts.

(We are all making porn right? That's the plan.)

4

Yup! Copyright and trademark are different things and Disney lawyers have already insulated the company. Yes it will technically enter public domain, but nothing will actually change.

3

I actually think this is a good way to do things, the original work becomes public domain and can be freely reproduced, but people can't, for example, make NSFW versions of the work.

Or just a conga line of shitty Sherlock Holmes adaptations.

I didn't know Winnie the Pooh was already public domain and that there is a horror movie about him made already? I got to watch that

It's got a 3% on rotten tomatoes, I'm intrigued about how bad it is

11

It's pretty bad, and not in a 'so bad it's good' kinda way... It's just bad

6

It's honestly a good laugh while saying "what the fuck am I watching" they're working on the second one which introduces Tigger. Don't go into it with high expectations go into it knowing they're doing it for fun and flipping off disney.

Remember Sega's old racing game Daytona near the 2000's
