When can I submit a change request to remove all the old soft code in production? I swear someone built this ship programming equivalent to rubber bands and thin strips of duct tape.

Humans just like feeling like they're better than another human, deleting someone else's code is loudly saying that you're better than them in some metric. Nothing wrong with it, but that's why writing code feels less powerful than yeeting other people's shit.
Yeah... I was tired.
Nothing gives me imposter syndrome worse than seeing code I wrote a few weeks ago only to git blame to find the idiot who wrote it...

Removing or even refactoring old code can be very therapeutic.
