It's just occurred to me that "I'll trim the fat" or such metaphors may mean "I can't speak about details because I don't know enough about what I'm talking about, so vague language it is"
That's crazy because I've been looking for someone to vote for who doesn't understand the issues and just appeals directly to my Id with vague promises of reducing my social accountability while fulfilling my "democratic responsibility to make my voice heard."
