Only been here for a day, but as far as I understand, other instances do cache the posts of their friend instances. It helps with outages afaik.
So I think you deleting the post might take a while to synch to other instances, but it will happen eventually :)

Yeah, I think it should be fine. Even if people see the post twice for a short while, it's probably going to go to an ok state eventually
