I remember trying to do this in the 90s by cutting and pasting in Photoshop or something, and then painstakingly altering the pattern. Didn't work lol

What sort of process did you use to make this?

First I downloaded a 3D model of a pawn and lined it up in Blender to create a depth map (I used half a YouTube tutorial to learn how). Then I just threw some pretty colours around in a photo editor until I was satisfied, before going to this website to combine them! I've seen other programs around that may get you different or more impressive results, but this one did a good enough job for me. I'm thinking of making a quick video tutorial so that more people can make them, I'm obsessed with staring at these lately!!
