Can we NOT make this community simply a highlight reel

r/rocketleague made a decision very early on that highlights would be allowed every day as regular posts. Subsequently, the sub turned into a giant highlight reel. Sure there were a couple of posts here and there on patches, RLCS, rare items, etc. But seeing highlight after highlight really killed the community discussions.

Making a request to the mods that highlights become a sticky-only or one-day-a-week thing as opposed to the core focus of the community.

The problem with r/rocketleague is that all the other topics surrounding the game have gotten their own subreddits - r/rocketleagueschool, r/rocketleagueesports, r/rlfashionadvice etc., thus leaving the main subreddit with mostly just highlights. All these other topics should initially be posted in this one community. If/when the activity becomes too much, only then should these topics split into seperate communities.

Completely agree. I expected those kinds of posts in the main sub. I think they just got too buried beneath all the flip reset highlights so people went off and made their own sub.

Yeah but that's a sub with a different purpose - the main subreddit was supposed to be for general discussion about the game but 80% of the content there where highlight-clips

I think OP meant that this group should not become like the one in Reddit in that regard but focus more on talking about the game, including all aspects from E-Sport to Car Designs to Replay Analysis

There isn't a whole lot of activity here yet. I say let the community kinda build up first before limiting what can be posted here for content.

I agree. There should be a day each week people can do highlights. Going to the Reddit sub and only seeing highlights was annoying
