Surrounded by Russians and ready to die, this Ukrainian soldier called in an artillery strike – on his own position | CNN

Ukrainian soldier Serhii sits on his hospital bed in a public clinic in central Ukraine. There are small pieces of shrapnel embedded in his legs that the doctors can’t retrieve. Despite the pain, he says that he is feeling “fucking good.” “I can’t believe that now I’m in the hospital, not in the trench. I did not think I would survive,” says the 36-year-old soldier.
