Tuberville signals he’s backing down on most of his holds on top military nominees after bipartisan pressure | CNN Politics
GOP Sen. Tommy Tuberville signaled that he is backing off of his hold on all top military nominees – as soon as next week – and will instead be focusing his blockade on a smaller number of so-called “woke,” nominees. The move comes after bipartisan pressure to cease his blanket hold on military promotions over reproductive rights policy.

The article title is somewhat misleading because it looks like Tuberville is only going to promote those whose background he agrees with.
In other words, he is still going to block the promotions of those he doesn’t think are conservative enough.
What’s worse is this fucker isn’t even up for reelection until 2026. Even if we managed to find a superstar candidate to dethrone him there is no way we are getting rid of him by the next election.
He has plenty of time to do some damage.
Who the fuck does this sack of monkey shit think he is? How the hell does he think he’s even remotely qualified to make any of these decisions? I understand that it’s the senate’s job to confirm these nominations, but this is the peak of politicizing the military.
@CoffeeAddict I really hope he gets the boot next election cycle for being so anti-military. There are plenty of other republicans in Alabama that should be favorable enough on other GOP viewpoints that could primary him, or if we get really good luck, a moderate dem win?
@Neblib unfortunately he is not up for reelection until 2026.
Who knows what the political landscape will look like three years from now, but the GOP has gone so far off the deep end that I wouldn’t be surprised if he ran unprimaried.
Also, in 2020 Tuberville defeated democratic incumbent Doug Jones 60.1% (1,392,076) to 39.7% (920,478).
I would eat shit if a democrat was able to dethrone him 2026 lol.
@CoffeeAddict
@remindme 36 months 😉
The only reason Jones got the seat in the first place is because that was the seat that Jeff Sessions vacated in 2017 when he was Trump’s pick for AG, AND his GOP opponent was Roy Moore who was such a bad candidate that even Alabama elected a blue senator.
Jones brief time in as the US Senator from Alabama was less a shift towards the center by the voters and more a rejection of the truly bat shit crazy Moore.
