Yes, unfortunately most of them but I think they’ll be compatible in 2-3 weeks.

iOS:

  • Voyager works fine

  • Memmy works but inbox (comments/messages) is empty and score is 0 on profile

  • Mlem fails at login

  • Lemmios fails at login

  • Avelon fails at login

Based on my quick check.

Because somebody has to upgrade to start the adoption.

Right, but that could have been delayed until prod release. It would give the developers of 3rd party apps chance to adopt rather than scramble and push last minute fixes.

Plus I'd imagine that a lot of users that aren't super technically inclined might open their apps, try to use them, fail ungracefully and give up on the idea of lemmy.

8

Breaking changes announced more than a month ago. We needed some features of 0.19 and we needed to push. Look at the apps right now. They’re becoming compatible one by one.

Also I checked the changes. Its nothing. Half-hour job to be done. IDK why it took so long on their side.

But you’re right. As a big instance, we shouldn’t do this kind of changes but as I said, we really needed some changes like pict-rs changes.

2

I can't login on the sync mobile app anymore, and that's the main way I use lemmy, so I basically can't access my account now.

10

I updated mine. App crashed after login.

edit: it crash if I use restored setting. But it's okay when I use default setting. So something in the restored config made it crash.

2

Pls feedback to them about this. Its been a month devs announced 0.19 breaking changes.

My default instance is lemmy.world, but yesterday I could switch to this instance to browse. Today its missing.

4

I can still view it, but you can't see the good stuff unless you login, which is broken

2
lemmynsfw.com

Currently, posts are NOT automatically flagged NSFW. Checked this in two communities.

7

I’ll make patching automated soon, probably within 2-3 days. So this problem will be resolved 👍

4

Awesome update! 😁

Now I don't have to adjust my settings every time I login to disable blur and enable auto expand!

7

I have the same problem with liftoff. This is the only instance I can't view on liftoff. It is working on voyager however

2

Both known issues waiting to be fixed. You can change tabs to get your own subscriptions as a pseudo solution.

Tying into a discussion on Boost for Lemmy. 0.19 is in beta, why did the instance decide to go to a beta release? Not attacking anything just trying to understand.

4

In sum; I needed some features of this version in backend. We were in 0.18.3 which is so old. Couldn’t waited. This is an exception BTW. Will not happen in the future.

Go to Connect For Lemmy's Play Store page and update to 1.0.153

It's out of beta and in general distribution now.

no offense to dev but he seems like he abandonned the app. although i can't blame him really: there is no financial incentive to keep supporting it. Hope the web version catches up to all those cool app features

2

It's fixed in v1.0.153, currently in beta. You can switch to beta channel on the play store page of the app.

Maybe intended but viewing the instance without logging in hides nsfw posts now

4

This update also disables 2FA for all accounts. 2FA also now uses SHA-1 instead of SHA-256, so it follows now RFC 6238. Should make the Lemmy 2FA method compatible to more TOTP clients.

4

It shouldn’t be because I didn’t even applied that patch 🤔

2

Looks like they added this one. I removed it and it will be fixed in next patch 👍

So, it has only been two days worth of posting for me, but the upload process is MUCH better. Images which normally would have taken two or more attempts, now upload the first time.

3

Yep, I increased the new upload timeout option to 10 minutes.

We’ll have rock-solid media service when pict-rs 5 released. It will have video support too. I’m expecting it to be released with Lemmy 0.19 stable.

Lemmy is improving technically day by day and I’m glad for it.

6

Posted this with my lemmy.world account, but I'll try it here via the web interface just to make sure this is working -

Can't log in or view the site using Liftoff.

Is mobile login still broken? This is not good for instances trying to maintain users.

Doesn't work on Jerboa. I hope we learned to not be experimental on this unique instance.

4

It’s not only experimenting tho. We needed some features of the beta. But I’ll try to avoid this next time.

You can try other apps like Boost, Sync etc. for now.

1

Thunder on Android also works after:

  1. Clearing cache
  2. Logging out, which deletes the login data from the app.
  3. Re-entering all the instance and login data to get back in.
3

Crossposting notices don't seem to show up on posts or in communities with this update, although I can see it noted on the home screen list.

As of 6:50 PM GMT, when I upload an image, it does not show on the upload page, and directly linking to the URL provided for the uploaded image returns {"error":"auth_cookie_insecure"}. Tried in two different communities. Will check back in a few hours, and try my posts again.

Downgraded to the older version. This issue should be fixed.

6:04 PM GMT. Using the web-ui client. Upload with chrome gives the same problem. Upload with firefox works, and post is visible to both chrome and firefox. Uploaded second post with firefox, and uploaded ok, but does not show in the community with either firefox or chrome. Reloaded in both browsers 6+ times. Post does show when go to the front page feed, and sort on new. Post in question is https://lemmynsfw.com/post/5009195

1

I’ve seen this error on issue tracker. If they don’t fix it, I will revert to RC.8

3

regarding other comments, it did sing me out on my android phone, but soon after I did finally log in and works fine.

2

just saw ur post in 'All'. Made an account in your instance since i appreciate a proactive admin. thank you! and 0.19 is awesome :)

2

On the first render of the web UI I get shown posts from blocked communities. (opening lemmynsfw.com in a new tab) If I refresh the page they're gone. Anyone else has this problem?

1

Login with 2FA is broken for the Firefox browser (and its forks). Chromium is not completely broken, but it's buggy, and there's a workaround.

It appears you have updated to 0.19.2. The Modlog no longer shows what the action taken was. For the little bit that of moderating that I do this is not a problem, but may be for more active mods. This is mostly a just FYI post.

Screenshot of what I see. I am running Chrome 120.0.6099.216 on MacOS. Checked in Firefox (121.0.1) and I see the same thing. The first five lines were approved after review (was a bug in the client that @NotAtAllSafeForWork was using. The next one was un featuring the post. Last one you can see clearly was deleting a comment, I believe. As you say, Interesting.

What theme are you using? I'm using darkly-pureblack and as you can see, my modlog screens background is gray-ish.

I’m glad it worked for you 👍 It is an interesting bug for sure. I’ll check it out.
