Le Chat Noir ball.

Edit: I wonder if Miss Meow would like this, her portrait on a toy?

3

I still have the other one if you’re in the market for used socks 😹

bot is on 150% for Saturdays and 200% Sundays. It's like bots today have no work ethic, not turning up to work without even having the courtesy to call in sick. Maybe if I try installing a table tennis app to create a more "fun" work environment?

Maybe some iced donuts in violent colours with sprinkles, filled with fake cream. And a new coffee machine in the break room.

1
aussie.zone

Maybe. I would have to limit the donuts to 1/4 donut per person, and it can't be a regular thing. And I suppose I could do a coffee machine, as long it is the cheapest machine available, I don't suppy any coffee, and when it breaks in two weeks (which it will cause it's cheap and dodgy) I can blame it on staff being too rough and refuse to replace it, leaving only a container of now-useless coffee pods that staff hopefully purchased with their own money sitting forlornly on the bench.

1

This is the way. Useless coffee pods - weeelll, my employer purchased a pod coffee machine, but the pods have to be ordered online as they aren't available at ANY of the supermarkets .... I think the machine has been used maybe three times ???

1

What if... Bot#001 is already grounded and hence unable to create the daily posts? The conspiracy continues...

Shopkeeper remembered my cheese, and left a note incase I came back after he left 😭 cheese acquired

Erk. Spending today dressmaking. I need a new outfit for xmas: but when I looked at what I wanted to wear, and what my budget was, and assessed the difference, I dug out the sewing machine. It's the pinning and pissfarting around that's doing my head in. And I've had to re-calculate all my usual measurements due to sloth and advancing age. And linen is a shocking price at Lincraft even with 30% off. Fortunately the Sacred Heart opshop had linen curtains in a nice colour for $10 per curtain.
Pix to follow when completed.
Note to self: don't change size if you can possibly help it between now and xmas.

You don't instantly recognise the reference? I mean, yes that's Julie Andrews. But if you've managed to get through life without seeing Sound of Music, I'll find that remarkable. It feels like it was on TV reruns every year throughout my childhood.

3

Confession time. I'm not a tv/film person. We didn't have tv growing up, and I've never owned one. I think I've seen 3 films in a cinema in my life. I'm familiar with the story and the songs of The Sound of Music, but not the film. I know I'm an outlier in the pop culture population, but so it is.

Behold, today's trio of curries, feat. more green. Tomato paste is a godsend. Gonna chuck some in the freezer

::: spoiler managed not to make a mess of my kitchen making it this time

Spicy soy meat, carrot, capsicum and tomato paste with dark and light soy sauce as a dry curry Zucchini cooked in a slurry of dessicated coconut ground with green chilli, curry leaves, garlic and mustard seeds And cauliflower, mushrooms and peas in a creamy, coriander heavy, mild and slightly sweet coconut curry sauce, with a touch of tomato paste, finished off with the crucial dried fenugreek leaves and a pinch of dried mango powder :::

The 2nd night of motocross is on tonight at the stadium so there are middle aged dudes wearing camouflage all over the place. I can see you, idiots.

Ok so just before I hit Post I looked down and I'm 40 and wearing camo shorts. God damn it. That'd be why the guy at the shop asked me if I'm in town for the motocross! I meant guys wearing a lot more camo than this! Argh I'm a hypocrite!

Wfh today, they've given me the inbox to manage. Feels good they recognise I'm trustworthy and reliable, quick learner and analytical.

Manager said she thinks I have ADHD, as she has it too, but she's medicated. She said I remind her of herself before she was diagnosed lol. Just another thing to add to the long list of mental shite I have haha

Also going out tonight with a mate for their birthday, then I have D&D tomorrow. I'm so stuffed already

8

My kitty still isn't terribly well. Her temp is down though which is positive but seems she has possibly a skin and ear infection. Skin I can deal with... Ear infection she is going to claw the shit out of me.

My other cat doesn't recognise her (since she's been bathed, showered and has topical cream on her) so she's kinda being shitty but there's no fighting, just hissing.

Otherwise I'm doing OK? Work has been a stressor lately since I can't seem to make progress on a few things, but realising I need a mentor (relatively new workplace) to help me progress. My boss is honestly a bit meh and a terrible mentor so seeing if I can get one somewhere else in the org.

Quiet weekend planned, and looks like the weather will be kinda meh. Also trying to figure out Christmas. My family wants me to visit them in hell Warrnambool but I'm not inclined to go... Although it's the only time I can really see my brothers but the rest of the family I clash with super quickly and I have shitty memories of growing up there so it brings a lot of anxiety,, My new partner is supportive and will go with me but I don't think I want to inflict that on her... So we'll see.

Humidity, amirite?

BoM sez the next week is gonna be all rain and clouds. Rubbish

8

Melbcat's care has been booked and it's apparently for three weeks in case things take longer. Wtf is going on? I was expecting only a night or two waiting in emergency as there's no way I'll be able to get all of the normal tests so soon. I really don't want to leave her there that long. I don't want to leave her at all.

I don't expect useful results anyway... hospitals are good for if you're bleeding out but terrible for anything invisible or complex. Fuck this year man

I swear the original Iron Chef is literally the origin of both modern cooking shows, and modern reality TV. It's also better than all of the modern interpretations.

i do believe the stone chef and the bronze chef started it all

I’ll see myself out

7

Just got back from Grazeland in Spotswood. Epic foods to be had, close to the station, like a Welcome (to Brunswick or to Thornbury) but on steroids.

Definitely helped me de-stress. Though I do need to work a couple of hours tomorrow morning - I should ask for triple pay yeah? It's just to make a report, no calls, but I imagine I should be compensated right?

Work is work, you should be paid extra to work on a Sunday if it’s not a normal work day for you. Goes beyond reasonable additional hours for a FT role.

Watching George of The Jungle, and it really is a stupidly hilarious film.

Also young me thinking the gorillas were real makes adult me giggle.

6

House is beginning it's Christmas makeover, sooo much stuff every where.

This time of year is always a funny one because I'm a big old grinch and my housemate acts like they literally came from Mrs Claus' womb.

6

My partner, when we were just friends, asked me without context:

Who are you?
What do you want?

I replied with:

Why are you here?
Where are you going?
Do you have anything worth living for?

He says that's when he knew he loved me lol.

We really have to rewatch it

oooooohh wow. WOW. Have not watched nor heard about that in decades.

My massive crush on several female characters was.....formative....in realising my sexuality.

Everyone's sexuality includes the female b5 cast. Fact.

Rewatching rn, about to hit s3. Man, been 30 years and i still remember the utter pantshit invoked by two simple words watching that season opener.

It failed.

3

Omg my weekend is ruined. FML. Just got home from the shops only to realise I didn't put the cheese I bought in my bag and left it at the counter. I'm too lazy to go back right now so I'm just hoping they will remember, I'm a regular there. I will just have to be cheeseless until I can be bothered going back. Maybe this afternoon, maybe tomorrow. This weekend is sucks

Do you have a recommended rave playlist / compilation video on YouTube? Seems like the day for it. Also I have too much coffee in my system

Why bother with underpants? Moon the sun, get melanoma of the bum.

So, @useless_modern_god posted this mall reindeer Christmas decoration the other day. Imagine my surprise when I encounter This mall reindeer Christmas decoration today in Perth:

I now have this mental image of a massive department store somewhere where they sell two-story tall products for shopping malls.

It is! What gave it away? The only Greater Union left still trading?

2

Yes but also it’s owned by the same company that (half)own Chadstone where my photo was taken.

Anyway, are you getting Santa photos this year?

2
Nathreply

I don't think I've ever gotten Santa photos. I've never seen the point.

Only exception is the time we went to the North Pole and met Santa:

(It's a little kid amusement park in the rocky mountains)

But who makes the displays shown in the shopping centre where one buys shopping centre displays?

aussie.zone

So okay, observations on driving after a while:

  • road markings seem shite in the rain at night. Or is it just me
  • need a car wash after driving through Manningham Rd, the cloud of dust from all the trucks and shit from the NEL work follows you up to Bell St
  • life is so much easier if you have carplay/android auto, phone holders are le sucke
  • love that we're in barefoot driving weather

And lucky days for me, I did a quick shop run to get coconut water on half price and bonsoy was 20% off too. Stocked up heaps of both while I had a car. Now I'm set till end Jan 😎

For sure some road markings are pure guesswork in the rain, especially at night!

And as someone who used a phone holder for years and recently got Android Auto.. so much better. Although I had pretty good phone holders so I didn't hate it that much.

4

The screen size and scaled up buttons are a game changer though. And voice commands... I can't get mine to detect voice commands while driving except in android auto

Ooh, the wing of a flying pig. Very exclusive. The feathers do tend to stick in the teeth though.

Which doughnut should I have first? The V slice, the KOK, the pineapple, the lemon meringue or the cream and jam.

Top right would be my first pick, with the cream. Can’t go wrong. Bottom middle also looks good.

4

Some additional decorations spotted. A Santa set. I like it but is sure to annoy the traditionalists.

4

Score, went to suss out some decaf beans and also got a 240g swordfish steak for $5 for extra dins tonight.

I hope these Proud Mary decaf beans taste good, I might be forced to drink decaf for a while and apparently some of them have an awful chemical taste. Research suggests everyone vouches for the Swiss water method but snobs go for ethyl acetate. Apparently Small Batch coffee is the shiznit so that'll be my backup if these beans don't crack it

It's perfect weather inside, not cold or hot, got all the windows open letting that fresh air in cleansed by the rain

5

I watched two versions of The Hobbit yesterday, three this week. While the original is a little long and has some wizard stuff that doesn't belong the original is charming and all the dwarves and bilbo are endearing. It makes us care while we go along with them on their mission.

No fan edit I've seen manages to do that. (I've seen two )

This is excellent snail hunting weather. Go out in the garden and just grab them.

2

With the dedicated snail hunting golf club for maximum impact. The local magpies will thank you for each and every carcass.

3

Where’s the rain at? I’ve got hot afternoon sun now. My garden needs another drink.
