MacOS and Active Backup for Business

Hello, I currently use Active Backup for Business on my NAS to backup my Linux servers. However I saw that you can also backup MacOS computers. I own a MacBook and an iMac. However the iMac is mostly locked but turned on.

Do Macs have to be actively used while backing up to your NAS or does this work even when the screen is locked and the screen of the iMac is black?

I can only answer this regarding Windows machines, but I guess it to be similar with the Mac software: The Active Backup for Business client runs as a system service (i.e. a daemon), so the system only needs to be running; your can configure, how a backup is triggered. I have it setup so that a backup happens once a day (not several times) either if the system starts, the screen gets locked or the system is idle. I can't tell when the backup is happening (there's no impact on performance and no indicator for the user), In only see it in the logs on the Diskstation. I suggest you just try it out. 🙂 And if you do, please share your results/answer here so that others in the future can benefit? Thanks.
