Yep and just to note. There is currently a bug it seems where if you swipe too far, the gesture will have no effect. Instead swipe just a bit to reveal the symbol and it should work.
Interesting, sometimes the text box comes up immediately after doing this, and other times I have to do it 2 or 3 times before the text box appears. Doesn't seem to matter how I get to the comment, either from w/in my inbox, going from the inbox to the comment thread, or on just a random comment from a post in my feed. Let me try uninstalling/reinstalling.
It’s a swipe action. Swipe the comment to the left a bit and the comment icon should show up.

That seems to have fixed it.
Devs should probably put it in the meatball menu on posts so there is a redundant back up for newbies.
Man I’m an idiot. This whole time I thought you just couldn’t do it, or there was something really wrong with the app on my end.
