I like having as many private repos as I'd like, its's a small plus that microsoft can't scrape my code for their silly AI products
It bans projects, developers, trains AI on this code.
GitHub is owned by Microsoft. Microsoft collects a lot of data.

Gitea is getting into corporation/IP territory while forgejo is 100% community driven.
Self-hosting might feels intimidating for some but once you have your server the speed and "snappiness" feels insane.
Gitea is a fork of Gogs with a lot of missing features.
