I run the linuxerver nextcloud container, and it seems like it doesnāt really play well with memories. At least, I canāt get the external transcoding container working, so Iāve put off migrating to the official container just to get memories working.
I installed immich recently and its amazing. I added nextcloud memories folder in immich library and it is used like read only. Seems like good alternative to have proper app for nextcloud photos, but i might switch to immich completely
I need to spin it up and have a look. I was on photoprism for years, but the dev was always so prickly on Reddit. It really rubbed me the wrong way. With nextcloud, I may also have a better chance getting my spouse to come over.

This is huge for me. I really want to like Nextcloud photos, but not being able to sort by date taken was killings me.
without memories I would probably have left nextcloud. it's really strange that this basic feature has been gone for so long!

FYI, the next version of Nexcloud AIO will come with the external transcoder.

Nextcloud should implement memories as default photo app.
Dont get me wrong I love nextcloud
