What did you think was unique to your country or culture, but is actually not?

For me it was bryndza (sheep cheese). My whole childhood I heard about how unique it's for Slovakia. Turned out they have bryndza in Romania, Poland, Ukraine, ... all over carpathian region

The number of burger restaurants in Scandinavia surprised me. Not that I thought burgers were only a US thing, but the number and variety was surprising.
