How do we talk about the Lemmy Doodle? Is it a mascot? Is it a lemming or a rat or a lemur? Does it have a name?

Lemmy's search widget isn't working for me. Google produced these questions, but asked a year ago. No consensus was reached then.

I think it’s supposed to be a lemming. I imagine its name is just Lemmy, tho I call him Lem for short. Honestly though any small rodent is going to look like a rat or mouse to me (and I love animals lol.)

Cool thanks. I happened to have a considerable supply of lemming, ferret, and otter erotica (or otterotica for short) in advance of finding out about this place. Now I have an application. Wanted to make sure it wasn't a lemur.

Looks like it is supposed to be a Lemming, as they refer to it on their github page (4^th^ bullet comment). But I don't think they actually give it a name.

Also, fun fact, (and trigger warning) the Lemmy logo isn't symmetrical.

Wow, that's actually amazing IMO. It's a tiny reality detail. Heads generally aren't symmetrical.

Need to put that trigger behind a spoilers blocker! I'll never unsee it....

About the name: Wikipedia: Like many other rodents, lemmings have periodic population booms and then disperse in all directions, seeking food and shelter their natural habitats cannot provide. The Norway lemming and brown lemming are two of the few vertebrates which reproduce so quickly that their population fluctuations are chaotic, rather than following linear growth to a carrying capacity or regular oscillations. Why lemming populations fluctuate with such great variance roughly every four years, before numbers drop to near extinction, is not known.

The more important question is when will we be able to customize its appearance and when can we turn them into NFTs.

I have had an equally difficult time having an AI anthropomorphize lemmings.

Not gonna lie, I didn't know what a lemming looked like until today.

I think we need to keep trying every so often. Eventually the AI will learn how to draw them in people's clothes.

I think that's what happened with otters and why I have been able to amass so many otterotic images.
