What changed
Similar to how they did the same when we paid them to back in the late 90s.
The US pulled out
The war ended. They always said it was a temporary measure to raise funds for their insurgency, and I guess they meant it.
They're the government now and are funded through taxes, so they can afford to be truer to their own beliefs.
Huh. So they actually followed through.
I guess being highly ideological cuts both ways here, as per usual.
