I don’t know if Russel is the whiniest shit on the grid or if they just televise his bitching more than others

23

Hey, thanks for making these every weekend. I appreciate the effort you're putting into it!

I'm also looking forward to the race after the sprint yesterday, that was real fun. Still undecided on whether stroll takes out Perez or the other way around.....:p

15

What a finish, 0.053 is insanity.

Great job Alonso, kudos to Perez as well.

Interlagos brings the fun yet again, love this track.

Are they a lap down too? Will be two if they don't do a formation lap?

This camera direction is bad. Perez fighting Hamilton out of the pits and they're focusing on Stroll.

12

Director is obviously big fan of the old Monaco director.

7
lemmy.world

This TV direction is horrendous. Not showing us the battles that we actually care about.

11

What you don’t want to watch the Mercedes struggle to drive straight or max just putting in laps a mile ahead of anyone for 2 hours?

5

Alonso great at keeping Perez in the dirty air, making him use up his tires trying to get past. Interesting to see how this plays out.

10

Ahhh, happy for Perez but Alo also deserved that one, too.

Edit: I spoke too soon!

Anyone else notice Russel steal the place from Perez when SC was called? I thought there was no passing under SC, George

espentanreply
lemmy.world

It looked like they were uncertain as to whose place it was, Perez and George drove next to each other for a bit.

5

Pretty sure checo passed him after the SC flag came out, checo also left a gap then. I think checo would've complained otherwise.

yeh, looked like it to me, but they are so busy replaying other stuff weve not seen it again

1

From the onboard just now it seemed clear that Perez would've made the move on George if no yellow flag, but just as the flag came out George was just ahead of Perez. I.e. they assumed the correct order.

Amazing how Hamilton can be simultaneously too slow because he wants to go past, and too fast because he pulled away from DRS range.

6

Hope they can fix Daniel’s wing.

Charles is on a wilderness excursion lol

Hopefully that wasn't the last overtaking attempt for Norris.

Don't really think anyone has done anything spectacular this race. I guess Perez will get it for at least vaguely achieving what the car is capable of.

I've gone with Ricciardo for shits n giggles

8

I agree, nothing spectacular that stands out. I went with Alo, just because it's nice to see him towards the front again.

5

Haha, I certainly did! That vote for Alonso suddenly felt more justified.

1

I wish they would stop showing the predicted drivers and constructors championship points before the race is done. Just wait until the end and we will know the actual points.

5

So Netflix clearly decided this episode is gonna be the Checo and Lance redemption show

5

Hit Riccardo's back wing. I'm guessing he's out as well.

3

Russell and whining on the radio that he wants to be let through. Sunday traditions.

Wow, Machine Gun Kelly might the grid walk interview that I have cringed at the hardest so far

4

Part of it seems like he couldn’t hear and the other part was that he’s just an idiot

I am not that familiar with the anthem, did the singer forgot her lines at the beginning or is the anthem like that? Because I swear I saw people still singing despite her being silent

4
4amreply

There were tech issues with the broadcast during the Sprint Shootout, I wonder if she had a mic problem? It seemed to come back quite suddenly

1

Don't know it either but it seemed to be a very minimalist interpretation of it, as most national anthems are bombastic by design.

1

Her actual singing sucked too, stroll and a steward both were cringing

1

Mercedes not having a great weekend here. That deg is bad. Being battled and passed up by cars that don't typically pass up a Mercedes...

4
lemmy.world

Yuki should've pit ages ago. Alphatauri having horrible strategy as usual.

4

Alpha tauri's race operations don't deserve all the great drivers they have had in the team. So many strategic mistakes over the season

2

I was wondering when they pit, and then he started to lose a second after another. That said, the end result was not too bad. Maybe he lost one position (to Lewis). I don't think he lost two.

1

Thunderdome:Sao Paolo edition. 20 cars enter. One car leaves.

6

Did Verstappen just pit for fresh softs?! Did he start on used softs, or did he somehow still have two fresh softs for the race on a sprint weekend?

3

Quarter of the field DNFd and two lads just having their own +1 laps chill evening ride going about, that P10 is anyones game

Yeah, I didn't really follow what happened to Piastri - and also Riccardo.

Why are they both so far behind?

Can anyone help me out here?

1

Thank you very much for enlightening me as well :-)

Hm but it seems PER coming closer now to ALO, both on new tyres.

So anyone else who thinks Stroll will DNF before the end of first lap? I'm not a fan of his, so definitely biased but his best recent results were after he could get a safe start from the pitlane.

3

I'd say here's about a 70% chance he'll ram someone at the first corner?

3

I’d say here’s about a 70% chance he’ll ram someone at the first corner?

I'd say there's about a 90% chance it will be Alonso

They were showing the highlights for the 2003 Brazilian Grand Prix on F1TV and wow, that race was something. 10 retirements.

3

I remember that one. There really was so much going on..

The howl of the V10, god that was intoxicating..

3

Sky just threw up a “All 17 Onboards Press the red button” graphic 😆 cheeky fucks

I'd say mostly for the Mercedes works team. Their engine is so good that even Stroll can get in the top 5 with it, except, their car is so bad, they can't do that themselves. And they might even get beaten by a Renault.

3

Alright George, show us how unbelievably much faster you are than Hamilton by overtaking Sainz.

2
DV8

Is that a red flag to clean up and restore the barrier?

2
espentanreply
lemmy.world

Yeap, and probably to bring out a sweeper car as well.

4

There’s half a cars worth of carbon scattered across the first stretch yeah

1

Did the McClaren pass Perez under SC? Certainly looked like it

Travel the world, attend F1 races, get paid more than most people. Sign me up.

7

Well, I'm not necessarily one of those, but one good race doesn't wipe out history, either.

4

Are you sure you're watching the same race as the rest of us?

3

Karun Chandhok is really good with the controls, slow-mo, zoom, drawing, rewind and explaining everything that is going on at the same time.

1

Alex Jacques: "One Red Bull disappearing, the other on the attack!"

Smooth transition between the camera shots.
