New Lemmy instance for gardening: The Garden, a place where all are welcome to grow their roots

Brand new instance dedicated to gardening, check it out!

Could probably create some communities there specific to flowers, vegetables, etc.

They could use some help getting users and getting federated--which will only help Lemmy overall, as lemmy.ml and beehaw.org are getting killed at the moment.

When I try to subscribe to the gardening sub (is that what we still call them?), I get the following link: [email protected] This probably isn't the server name you want, probably needs just a configuration somewhere.

Thanks for the tip, can you please let me know where you're seeing that? What are you doing to obtain that link, and would you mind checking again?

The Lemmy documentation has some gaps, it seems.

If I open the sidebar on any instance other than my home instance, I'm being informed that I'm not logged in:

You are not logged in. However you can subscribe from another Fediverse account, for example Lemmy or Mastodon. To do this, paste the following into the search field of your instance: ![email protected]

It may work this way, but this seems to be the hostname of the VM you're running this on which will eventually change.

This should be fixed, can you give it a try now please?

This should be fixed now. I can find it on other instances, though I'm not sure how kbin works. Can you please try again?

I'm new to Lemmy... why am I not automatically logged in to this community? I'm coming from lemmy.world but other communities on other instances don't seem to mind - I can immediately post. Is this because the link suffers from this bug?

'Just checked again. Refreshed my browser tab and waited for a couple minutes but still it's asking that I log in. Also: I'm not seeing garden.land in the fediverse list (https://lemmy.fediverse.observer/list). Other .land endpoints are listed though.
This is all new to me so I'm not even sure that I'm supposed to automatically be logged in (like with lemmy endpoints). Please let me know if you learn any more!

My guess is that it takes some time to work its way through the federation. I had to manually add it just now to the Fediverse Observe, and got this message when I did so:

Data successfully inserted! Your server will be checked and live on the list in a few hours!

Update: working now, and is listed there: https://lemmy.fediverse.observer/go&domain=thegarden.land
