maegul (he/they) lemmy.ml2Hide 2 repliesWell, "Web Developer" is effectively a compound (like in German, we do the same thing but often just keep the spaces between the words). With a compound, the connection between the words sometimes has to be inferred, usually by inserting an appropriate preposition. Usually, something like "Developer on the Web" would probably be what we understand. In TBL's case ... it's "Developer OF the Web".35
entropicdrift replylemmy.sdf.org1Hide 1 replyI think it's a little more idiomatic (at least where I'm from in the US) to specify this difference as, "a web developer" vs "the web's developer"13
maegul (he/they) replylemmy.mlI think we’re saying the same thing. Web’s developer = developer of the web +/- idiom5

Web Developer... The Whole Thing
So you mean a stack developer?
Yeah... Emphasis on the FULL stack.
Well he only did SOME of it. CSS and JavaScript is all after him.
All stack developer
THE STACK developer, literally
Would be hilarious if he walked into a job interview and got grilled about it. "yeah, so it says here you worked on the web? do you have a portfolio? what frameworks did you use?"
I don't know how you would get more specific.
Missing "The" in front of title
I mean. It's not wrong...
Developer of the Web
Right? It's just missing the article.

Reminds me of the time I went from being a PHP developer to being a PHP developer.
Jeez that's an old YouTube UI.
Had a good laugh from this. It's not wrong, though.
Is this 2008 YouTube I see before me? That's a throwback
Well it does say Web Developer and not web developer. 🤔
Sir Tim Berners Lee
He did developed the web...
Web Master would have been a better title..
What'd Tim do again?
He made a basic html site a couple years ago
