The way to make this into a great costume would be to add a Velcro tear away panel that would be filled candy.

Or, make it a couples costume, and the partner has a comically large baseball bat that flings candy every time they whack their piñata partner.

You can only hit him if you're blindfolded. But he gets to hit you without one.
