How much of an improvement is this than what they currently have or is it just more tanks overall?
They got sent not just M1 Abrams tanks but the M1A2 SEP (think of adding a pretty extreme luxury package to your favorite car). It’s an important distinction because many items go from mechanical to touch screen for the driver, gunner, and TC. The mechanics will have some extra work to do but the operators will have a LOT of perks. Lots of get-up-and-go in those things + improved optics and interfaces all around. I operated one of these tracked beauties in the 00s. Had a fun time every time I got to drive/load/gun. It’s a solid improvement for sure.
