I miss Splatoon 1 map designs. They were still bad from a competitive aspect, but they were super creative and memorable. They tried too hard to make competitive maps in Splatoon 3 and now they're all lifeless, and still not great gameplay wise.

I feel like a bit of it might also just be Nintendo's interpretation of "competitive", too.

It seems like they usually go for simplifying maps/external stuff, where I think both competitive and casual play can improve with the increased variety (nix the things that hurt and/or stall gameplay, too, though), at least most of the time.
