SWVA checking in.

Fifty subscribers as of this morning. That's pretty encouraging.

Just subbed to your washingtondc community as well. Definitely will miss that and r/nova from reddit. Hopefully both communities take off. Thanks for creating!

Was considering making c/nova but I figured c/Virginia will be kind of a long shot regardless. I hope it takes off too! I loved the community discussions and being able to discuss news around town. Also for transparency: I anticipate having two lemmy accounts by the way, my other is @[email protected] which is where I will be mainly posting when outside of here!

Given the way other sites have gone I doubt that those that go back once the blackout ends for some subs will be able to tolerate staying for long.

I mean, it's hard to tell. Reddit has millions of users, and I think Lemmy just broke 100k people across all instances. I'm surprised there's more than like 5 total people in those 100k people in VA.

EDIT: The community icon looks like it might be broken (at least in Jerboa). The top left side is basically nonexistent. Not sure what's up with that.

I didn't see that before - it looks like supposed to be half a seal on the cutout of the state silhouette, but it's a png with the background color transparent so the seal just looks broken. Given that the icon is usually in a circle anyway, might as well just make the icon the seal like this:

Edit: it would be wrong to paste Huffman's face onto the bottom dude, no?
