Here's how you link to communities on Lemmy in a way that is portable (i.e. your link takes me to your instance where I cannot post because I'm not logged in [email protected] will redirect me to the community in my instances' interface.

This should work as an autocomplete, you just type ! and then the name of the community and the site will autocomplete. However this is a bit buggy so you have to fix the link manually.

https://lemmy.sdf.org/post/36299 Explains it in detail but basically:

To fix this issue, you’ll need to manually edit the autocompleted link like so:

BAD LINK: [![email protected]](https://lemmy.world/c/youshouldknow)

⬇️⬇️⬇️ Remove the domain (i.e.: https://lemmy.world) & append the @ identifier (i.e.: @lemmy.world)

GOOD LINK: [![email protected]](/c/[email protected])

Removing the domain like this transforms it into a local link which prevents the instance redirection. >Doing this will make it easier for newcomers to join your community and participate in discussions!

It should be fixed in an update soon, but for now it requires a tiny bit of manual correction.

Sorry for posting under PoE discussion tag instead of the reddit one, I'll recreate if needed. Gotta learn the new rules
