This is a shit outcome. It's not surprising, but it's shit. To the Indigenous Australians amongst us: I'm sorry. I hope one day Australia will show you the respect and care you deserve.
Ultimately, I'm angry. Angry at this country, really. We need to be better than this.
Agreed. First Nations peoples should get the vote and the right to have elected representatives in all levels government. I just don't understand why people would vote no to that.

If I had 400 million I would have spent it on educating First Nations people on how to use the power they have, to vote and stand for elected government. Government has the power to make policy and direct spending.

Yeah I really just do not understand why it's a bad thing that our First Nations peoples can have more say when it comes to stuff related to them. Like I heard one wild thing was if the voice was majority yes, then First Nations peoples would kick every person out of their house.

Looks like Victoria is the only state that might vote yes and even that’s not a given. I really thought this would be closer.

We ARE better than this. Let’s be clear, Australia has voted against Murdoch media in the past, but labor set this up to fail hard. Albo should resign. This will be spun as a win for the libs, but a huge portion of Aussies didn’t understand what they were voting for. I agree, those who didn’t had a responsibility to educate themselves, but labor had a responsibility to show people why this was a vote for unity.
I'm just, I'm so disappointed. I mean, it feels weird to vote for the idea to give people more rights when they're the ones who lived here first. It's like taking a vote on if you should allow your housemate to be on the lease.
It's just really disappointing. Labor didn't expect that the No vote would come out swinging and because of that there was A LOT of misinformation. Honestly, if you have fucking NAZI'S on your side... you should really re-evaluate your opinions.

So not a fan of this crap. Certain politicians don't want to take responsibility for their bigoted views, so they ask citizens to decide and then stir up smear campaigns and misinformation. And so many people buy it.
Gay marriage was banned in 2004 by John Howard's government and it only got made legal again in 2017 because the hatemongering/sabotage didn't work and the numbers passed. (There are legal differences but the underlying plan was the same.)

Victoria has had a First Peoples' Assembly since 2019. This is largely identical in role and function to what the federal Voice would be, but it is tasked with representing its views at a state level.
Sadly, while I try to hold on to a bit of hope, it is almost certain Victoria will not be voting Yes today.

I know people both who are voting yes and no. Whilst the odd person that votes no might have a thought through reason, there’s also many who are voting no because Don’t know, Can’t be bothered I have better things to do, Conspiracy theory xyz , I hate Albo, why should they get something special, etc. Its horrifying how many people are in this category. I think the vote is not really split between yes and no, it’s split between yes, no, and cooker. Was never gonna be a fair debate.

We need to fucking do something about our media. That's the problem. Misinformation and propaganda outlets control almost all of the media, and tbh I think News Corp needs to be completely shuttered.
The No vote will be a terrible outcome for the Indigenous Australians, and the children of colonisers irresponsibly ignored their wishes because of a perceived "risk".

The black dog continues to lurk for honestly no good reason at all. It's getting quite tedious. I have taken my massive vit D supplement but something tells me I need more sun. I woke up a little late after being exhausted last night. I decided to go ahead and cook my big breakfast or in this case lunch.
I’ve got toasted bread, eggs under the bacon, some charred fried tomatoes, onion and mushrooms with some hash brown and a couple of sausages and also a little bit of Dino pasta.

One disadvantage of living near the top of a hill is that the walk home is always upwards. A lot of walking to write a few letters on a piece of paper, but I did get to see some nice gardens on the way - one place in particular had a stunning native garden. I also got to pat a dog (a young excitable Husky, which I expect will be trouble in the future as the owner did not seem to have any idea how to deal with it, unfortunately).
We live in the top of a hill too.
I walked to vote this morning. The rest of the household drove. They bet me there and back by 30 seconds.
The walk back uphill was very tiring because they didn’t have Democracy Sausages at the Polling Station.
My walk was about 20 mins each way, so driving definitely would have been quicker. It would be half the time if I could walk direct, but there is a big sports complex and a school in the way I have to walk around.
I think I made the mistake of turning on to the abc’s vote counting broadcast.
Listening to a politician on his view about the No vote and how he talks makes me sick.
Of course they support the idea and everything about recognition and how there’s so many ways to word it but of course they’re opposed to the no vote for the same amount of reasons and words that all mean the same thing.
Political spin makes my head hurt.

Lunch toastie: lamb, tomato relish, sauerkraut and two cheeses (chedder and an unidentified hard white cheese), on a dark capeseed bread.
Never heard of a sandwich with those ingredients and it looks amazing. Did you invent that?
It's a variation based very loosely on a Reuben sandwich. I find the sauerkraut works really well with those types of ingredients, and my current batch is made with some fennel which adds some extra depth of flavour too.
I was going to say post it on r/sandwiches but then remembered where I was lol. BottomRacer is right, you should name it. Its too fucking glorious to be anonymous.
It needs a name.

Almost certainly yes. I plan to do this, as I've already voted but don't want to miss out on the fun part. And you can have multiple democracy sausages, but can't vote multiple times.
Interesting.. also I don't think I've ever voted at a place which does sausages. I've been voting at the wrong place. Are democracy sausages paid or free?

Had to very awkwardly and very firmly tell a campaigner at my local to "leave me alone", they actually followed me through the gate attempting to shove pamphlets and crap at me.
I'm pretty sure they aren't supposed to do that. They're supposed to stay in designated areas and only offer pamphlets. They aren't supposed to coerce voters.
We had a guy camping at the end of the line handing out pamphlets to people joining the queue. Pretty sure he wasn't supposed to be there, either.
They aren't, there's a distancing rule, but with no one there to enforce it they get a bit rabid.
Next up on my to do list is a uni assignment, so I think I'm going to go op shopping...

Made a chicken stock and then soup. It's simmering away on the stove and I'm about to add "noodles" (really it's broken spaghetti, the only time I break spaghetti! Mum used to do it and I got used to it). Also having lamb cutlets because local butcher had them for reasonable price so I thought why not. Elder doesn't like lamb but will be soothed with home-made chocolate brownie.

Broken spaghetti has no place in my usual spaghetti dishes. Mum used to always break it. I don't know why and I don't think she did either. Probably so dad could shovel it down faster, idk. In my chicken soup it's a bit too long though.

Albo didn’t even 1/4 ass this. The things been dead in the water for months. Fear was always gonna win in the face of no response from yes.
I think there’s a lot of pieces that led to this. Perhaps more information and presentation of what it means to vote yes.
Equally the No campaigns were quite awful for done of them and played on the ignorant and fears of people.
A lot of people were too easily swayed into the no camp for a myriad of reasons I feel.
I don’t have the answers to it however.
What I observed was Lidia (as much as I disagree with what she says) voice her opinion in a passionate way on every program that I turned on all I heard from Our Leader was "it's up to the Australian people. I'm sure they will do the right thing". Where's the passion? Where's the leadership? I'm very disappointed.
I admit I saw a lot of her on tv, much more than I would have liked to be honest.
I think Albo could have pushed it a little harder to be honest. I saw various things on the media from other people trying to get the point across but it was varied amoungst a number of people.
I really hope this doesn’t cause a set back for future generations to come.

Well, it's not really his job. He promised to bring the question to the voters, and he did that. That should have been all he needed to do. This isn't really meant to be his cause.
It also should have been brought years ago by either Abbott or Morrison. The Statement From the Heart was made in 2017.
This is why I was surprised when Mr Dutton spoke about a referendum rematch. His party sat on this topic for years.
I understand why Albo said he respects the decision of the Australian people.

Won the food cupboard bread trifecta this morning - English muffins, crumpets and fruit loaf! They had a ton of muffins especially today for some reason. It was odd, there was no normal bread, normally there is lots of plain bread and the others are an occasional treat. Good timing too, I'm almost out of muffins and I do like them with my eggs for breakfast.
Did an Aldi run (voted a couple of days back) and the car park was heaving. And Audi drivers were being Audi drivers.
Still, snacks and prosecco have been procured for either results watching or drowning my sorrows, depending on how soon it's called.
Now back to the theory units before the First Aid class Tuesday.

I'm not even finished my last 10 pack, but I'll take a bargain when I see it.
I always get worried that my food will just get even colder and worse quality if they need another stop along the way. I'd only do it if they were next to each other or something 😬
I've only done it a couple of times but tonight the 2 deliveries were delivered by separate people rather than the same one along the way. I got the booze delivery about 8 minutes before the food one, so I took it up stairs then pretty much went back down right away to collect the food.
Nothing quite says this has been a relationship of circumstance quite like an incoming departure, annoying habits blocked out become maddeningly unbearable once again.
Someone's habit of clearing their throat every 5-10 minutes might just send me postal before my time is up.

Tonight, it's more Japanese - leftover miso soup, steamed broccoli with goma-ae and I made an attempt at tamagoyaki for the first time. It looks like a giant yellow turd but... The inside is perfectly textured and it tastes not bad at all if I say so myself! I still think it's not exactly easy to do, you have to get everything in place and work quickly between dabbing with oil, pouring, lifting and rolling, but it doesn't feel as impossible as it did...

Aussie Enviro, Food and Frugal are looking a bit slow.
The quicker Glaze time was nice but it still threw up the same insufficient protection error, so I cranked the settings up to maximum and ran it again to see what that time is like. lol. I'm still waiting. I should have done it with single images as a control and written the times down...
Playing Minecraft is also probably slowing it down. But I'm bored waiting. Lightning just struck the hut again, 3 times in a row. It's lucky I added a lighting rod and didn't tame any more cats.
I'm feeling really uninspired. Maybe I'll make an underground mushroom garden or an underground grow room. Or try to find new mushrooms/plants. All I really want to do is explore, but then that means I have to go further for new stuff after updates. Unless I limit myself to one direction, or a four point axis that still leaves widening pie slices of unexplored territory/never loaded chunks the further out I go.

I never fully trust anything. They should make meal containers flat and standard size like that but also make sure it can fit inside a large ziploc bag (as an extra layer of insurance).

Google maps phone app update has changed the colours and I do not like it.
My new fridge will be arriving Wednesday, so I ended up wasting half the day browsing fridge storage containers. I have also rearranged the space it's going into a couple of times and probably will a few more times before I settle on what I want to do. I have managed to get rid of some stuff, including some old spices and a ridiculous number of plastic bags. Why I had three separate plastic bag stashes in such a small area I do not know.
I hated the idea and don't think it was useful for anything than opening dialogue.
But opening dialogue could have been done other ways.
I voted yes because it's another step.
First Nations people already have voting and political rights, they have equal treatment under law and equal access to government monies. I want them to use that to the fullest extent possible.
If it were me and I was in government I would ask what kind of lives they want and I would provide the opportunities for them to achieve that. For each person .
As were most people who voted no. Many just have a different vision of what is good for society. Being a democracy we have to accept that there will always be diversity in belief and opinion about society, even when we vehemently disagree.
And good people are intimidated into saying nothing

I got a delivery at 12pm, was occupied and then forgot to go get it until 5 or 6… the tubs were no longer very cold but they contain no animal products and are unopened.

Using version one of Glaze took all last night and into this afternoon only to throw a ‘not strong enough protection’ error… I’ve changed to the beta of version three and even after having gone up a level of intensity, it’s given me a much shorter estimate and I can see it counting down. Wow. Fingers crossed
