I wonder if the deal was agreed over the summer, and they just chose to announce it now for some reason. Doesn't seem like the best timing though.

Eh, he did overperform last season given all the injuries; willing to give him the benefit of the doubt

Not a tactics guy, but if Kai is ideally a tip of a diamond type of player and football has moved past the need for a diamond midfield and it is inferior to a box midfield, then why is he here?

From what I observe while giving him the benefit of doubt, I feel that he has the qualities and technical ability needed for our number 8 role. And he’s working really hard.

Sadly, he is super low on confidence which affects his execution, especially in the final third. If I had spent three of my formative years in that dysfunctional excuse for a football club, I’d be low on confidence too.

We might play him at the 9 this upcoming match with a double pivot of Partey and Rice. I believe this is the optimal scenario for Havertz. At the end of the day, he was a poor signing by Arteta and Arsenal. We should have gotten a proper number 8.

Havertz back at 9, Jesus to RW, Trossard/Reiss at LW, Rice/Odegaard/Partey in midfield? I think Elliott from ArsenalVision brought up the fact that Havertz hasn't really had a better game than the Community Shield. And if his confidence is rising, then ideally he'd start banging the goals in from open play.

I agree. He's better off as a 9 for this upcoming match. The sad thing is we shouldn't be having this conversation. We should have gotten a proper 8 and a proper 9 in the transfer window. Now, we are reconfiguring the lineup to accommodate a player, instead of the player fitting right in and elevating the team.
