My first edition copy of Orwell's 1984

My father bought it when it came out because he loved Orwell and instilled a love of Orwell in me (my favorite novel of his is Coming Up for Air). I doubt this copy is worth much. It's got some folded page corners and, obviously, has lost the dust cover. But I treasure it.

The first edition of that was listed in hundreds if not thousands of dollars last I checked on ebay.

Better not let it go, ever!

Not planning on it, although I'm guessing my daughter will eventually sell it. She's not especially interested in Orwell.

Nice! I have an Upton Sinclair first edition 'Little Steel'. Looks to be the same binding.

Lovely , and really more valuable than one might imagine considering condition , UK market value would be between £150 to £250 I would say, obviously more with a jacket. This classic is always easy to sell IMO.

I wouldn't want to sell it anyway, but thanks for giving me an idea of the value, because that's always good to know.
