[PSA] Oneplus phones on Android 11 are being artificially throttled but there is a fix.
Hi there, I wanna share this knowledge with about Oneplus phones on Android 11 since I don't think its well known how you to fix it. Basically as a "battery saving meassure" Oneplus is secretly without telling the user limiting performance of a wide range of Apps, like Social Media Apps, Browsers, etc. The performance in some cases can be down by a whooping 75% - which can be quite noticable.
Unfortunately there is no easy method to turn this behavior off in the Settings App or whatever. But what you have to do is :
- enter
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.oneplus.config - reboot the phone

From my experience I noticed no other issues on my phone and the change had no real impact on my day to day battery life .
Never settle for Oneplus.

If their phone stuck in Android 11 in 2023, I doubt there will be any updates from OnePlus.
Exactly, this mostly about the Oneplus 6 and 6T
It's easy enough to install LineageOS on OnePlus phones. Would rather do that than deal with shady stuff like this.
Definitly an option, but this is a way to keep OxygenOS for those who want it.
This would require unlocking bootloader and/or rooting i presume? Could i still use my banking aps and google pay?
It requires unlocking the bootloader. No issues with my banking apps but I don't use Google pay. I think to use Google pay you'd need to install Magisk for root and install a module so that you can bypass safetynet.
Wow, I was likely going to get one of these as my next phone.. .bullshittery like that has changed my mind.
