Microsoft Flight Simulator 2024 announced during Xbox Games Showcase
Wow... This looks amazing!
Probably an update on FS2020? Or a new standalone thing? Very excited regardless!
Edit:
New game instead of an update. Confirmed by Xbox on Twitter.

Sequel? Not an update for MFS 2020?
that's right, a brand new sequel!

Is it not msfs more gamyfied? I wonder if the realism will suffer, to accomodate gamers
Hope not... I expect most of the things they showcased to just be missions, or activities as they call em nowadays. Doubt they'll touch free flight and just leave the realism up to the player with the assists like before. That seems logical to me at least?
But who knows? We'll have to wait and see!
I am both excited and a bit worried as well. The kind of missions they show are really great. Some of those you can already do in MSFS2020 using the H145 with the action pack for example. I imagine those kind of third party missions will get even better once MSFS2024 supports such missions out of the box. I'm sure they will still accommodate hardcore simmers and the API.
I think I saw alot of third party planes in the trailer as well.
Also at 1:54, seasons!
Well, I did not expect that. Could be a good thing if the main motivation was to redevelop core components to make them run more efficiently.
My wishlist:

Seems reasonable? Hopium it's true...
