How do 2 cats fit in the one colander???? One of the mysteries of the universe. Or possibly cats have a portal to another dimension that they can tuck inconvenient limbs into on a temporary basis. I am also curious about the portholes on the fridge.

9

the wall between this dimension and the cat dimension is very thin on my land

Whoohoo! MRI results came back and the neurologist says all clear. Well, his exact words were "there's nothing major" but I'll take that as a good thing. Also my psych appointment for the ADHD assessment has been brought forward from November to next week. I hope they confirm it because it would explain a hell of a lot and I can get finally get treatment.

20

I cried when I got my ADHD diagnosis. And my psychiatrist was like "don't cry!" And I'm like "happy tears!". It's such a great feeling! Though of course, you have to grapple with the idea that "oh my god this explains everything. I didn't have to struggle through life!" And then you get sad again.

Bill and Ted report.

Ted is a very happy cat and when not running around exploring he's chirping saying "Hi everyone, what's up?" or "Is it dinner yet?" or sitting in a sunny spot being chill or sleeping in his little bed.

Bill is not so happy but will slowly settle down.

I'll try to get some more pics today.

There are DV break lease options. Not sure if they apply here or not.

Well my day has started out badly. Was rushing out and turned out of my car port too sharply and fast and ended up damaging my rear car door and scraping it along brick work.

Fml

Dug deep enough to peel off paint and even warp the end of the rear door and the chassis a little.

Car will function still and not sure if the damage will cause any ill effects.

God I hate my life and this hurts so bad

12

Dab some nail polish on any scratches deep enough to reach the metal to prevent rust.

7

I rang one of my friends to ask. Going to see if I can get one the closest shade to my paint

3

Just go the the supermarket and get a cheap clear coat

3
Duenanreply
aussie.zone

Nail polish? I don’t know anything about nail polish.

What do you suggest I get?

2
aussie.zone

Any colour or clear. Go to the cheap end of line bin at Priceline or chemists warehouse or similar and get a bottle. Probably won't cost more than a couple of bux. There might even be a colour there that's close or use a colourless one (top coat). There's a tiny brush inside the cap for applying it. Easily removed with acetone when the time comes to fix the car. Just tell the mechanic or spray painter or whoever that you used nail polish on the bare metal if any. One coat should be sufficient to protect against rust, but do maybe two if it'll be a while before getting the damage fixed properly.

5

I just don’t have the money to fix it or anything so I have to do the cheapie option, thank you for the suggestion.

Kmart seems to have what I need and they’re only 2.80 a bottle.

5
Duenanreply
aussie.zone

Am I in trouble if I can’t get it fixed professionally in the foreseeable future?

2
aussie.zone

Not a professional here, but I understand that any damage to the paint/coating can lead to water/rust damage. More of a problem where the car is out in the weather and there's violent weather and/or extremes of temperature change. If you have a way to keep the car under cover most of the time that will help. Paint damage doesn't help with resale value.

2

Ok thanks.

I’m not worried about reselling but the rust issue dies worry me. This might be the start of the end if my car :(

Duenanreply

I think I might be scared of doing more damage to my car using that combination of its strong enough to strip paint.

5

I guess it’s too late. I put the nail polish on. At least for now it’s protect it a little.

I’m just stressed i guess and couldn’t afford much more than what I already had.

The colour is call purple blue I think it’s and a metallic paint. Not sure how easy that would have been to find.

Guess it couldn’t have been worse than me using an off colour nail polish like I just did.

Anyway I’m going to see if I can clean this off my hands and I guess sink into how much my life sucks and wishing i took it easy this morning pulling out of my car port.

4

Arrrghhhhh. Car pain is the worst pain. 😞 my heart hurt for you just reading that. I hope the rear door damage won't be too bad in the long run

::: spoiler Long post with many links

Apparently you have to have a paid subscription to use Pantone colours in Adobe (ie Photoshop) and if you don’t pay, their colours in your finished artworks turn to black? Ruining them. I’m not aware of the fine points as I don’t use Photoshop but wtf. This is some Anish Kapoor shit. Ok it’s due to a dispute about licensing fees.

Stuart Semple has released his own versions of the colours in a palette for free, accessible through a plugin. And calling back to his dispute with Anish Kapoor, he’s included Pinkest Pink and Pantone don’t have permission to use his colours. Classic.

Also Unity is gearing up to charge game developers for customer downloads. They’re apparently apologising and somewhat? backing down now but yeah. They tried it. (They also sold a lot of stock before the announcement.)

It matters because Unity is the game engine that is taught to game developers in school, and has been used to make popular games like Rust, Fall Guys, Cuphead, Among Us and Pokémon Go. This affects devs with large projects in development and screws over smaller indie devs. Also *because it counts repeated downloads it’s vulnerable to griefing. If a demographic get pissed off at a game? What was once limited to review bombing could become actual real world debt.

It seems what happened with Reddit’s third party tools isn’t a one off. The world has changed so rapidly and it’s slipping into enshittification.

Unity is thinking about AI games.

AI art is also filling the various art references I look through, I see artists having to put anti-ai filters over their work because it gets stolen.

It’s affecting writers too. Bogus ai-written foraging guides are being sold on Amazon. Do not go mushroom picking with one of these babies OK? I think we all know how that ends up.

Famous authors are suing OpenAI as their work is getting scraped ( this is the second lawsuit apparently) and fake ai books are being sold under the names of established authors.

Last but not least there’s a bill called KOSA that will infringe on privacy (it wants ID) and target trans/queer content under the guise of protecting kids. The idea is platforms are responsible for the content each user posts so to avoid consequences anything adult in nature is at risk of being scrubbed.

I’m still getting my head around all the fine points of both bills but apparently it’s been changed to a different bill called the Online Safety Bill which also wants ID and to scan encrypted messages like WhatsApp. The UK has just passed it.

This stuff matters because Australians use sites or services hosted in America (and any other country that brings in these laws). :::

I'll answer because I think I'm the only one awake. If you listen to their drivel and they don't listen to your drivel then they are narcissistic cunts. Full stop.

7

You are obviously a patient person but you're not stupid and what you have to say does matter it's just that some people are so self absorbed that they just don't care. It's not you it's them.

7
Duenanreply

You are super patient with listening to people and what you say is valid, it’s just that the other party aren’t patient enough to listen to you which isn’t fair.

🤷‍♀️ Drivel is where the real conversation happens.

5

Seems few people have the ability or wish to put up with any mildly uncomfortable feelings or situations.

For many decency isn't even something they think about if they are going to be mildly put out in any way.

And not everyone has the kindness or the patience .

5

I’ll chime in too.

It would be pretty selfish of them if you were to listen to them and they wouldn’t want to listen to you because it doesn’t interest them.

It would be a decent thing to do for other people if you had to do it but not everyone’s decent about it.

5

So a bit of philosophy is that when helping someone it's meant to be done without debt, other wise you're not really helping you're just doing business. - A few stoics have this view.

However if your friends are simply taking when they need and never giving when you need, that is probably something worth addressing as it'll eat at the friendship. It's certainly eaten away at a bunch of my relationships over the years. I feel I spent my 20/30s trying to be a helpful compassionate person, but if I try to put that on a balance, people helped themselves to my helpfulness and compassion. When I had problems - depression, car accident, back injury, eviction, medical complications - I didn't hear from anybody. After all that I stopped trying to help people, I stopped working as a therapist, I gave up on people. After A FEW YEARS I started to get the occasional low-effort text message about missing me. It didn't make me feel like resuming my efforts as a useful person. It felt like they missed my efforts and not my person hood.

And on talking drivel: “Talking nonsense is the sole privilege mankind possesses over the other organisms. It's by talking nonsense that one gets to the truth! I talk nonsense, therefore I'm human” - Fyodor Dostoevsky.

4

4
aussie.zone

It's one of my favourite premade meals from fairfeed, I had excavated one from the freezer to defrost and it's going in the oven soon. Imagine the most delicious crumbled felafel topping over a mouthwatering medley of perfectly roasted veg with the sexiest garlic sauce stirred through. It's an orgasm in your mouth. I think I've shared it before. I might take a picture after it's done and I cut through it.

This is how they've described it: "Enjoy delicious caramelised roast beetroot, pumpkin, cauliflower and pickled red onion in smoky, sweet eggplant Habibi sauce, all topped with crunchy Felafel crumbs. Our Habibi sauce is a smooth baba ganoush like sauce. Think sweet, smokey, garlicky with a hint of pomegranate molasses and a whole lot of flavour. " I did not even know there was eggplant in the sauce, that explains why it's so amazing.

3

I am such a nong! Didn't set up a reminder to chuck a cursory amount to grow my savings balance for two whole months and missed out on like $400 of the bonus interest which is why I signed up for this account in the first place 😭 I could've really used that! Talk about stupid tax...

...oh well, can't turn back time, have put in a reminder now; I'll get this month's at least. After that, one time chunk coming out to buffer me for the rest of this year, and every month after I'll be trying to get as much interest as I can out of the remainder.

10

I don't know why I didn't before, because all my bills etc are automated, but I've put in a reminder atm instead of an auto payment because while bills need to come out on a set day and are stuck in a separate account, I kinda want to make use of the flexibility with the bonus interest transfer since sometimes I've juggled things around a bit and don't want the transfer accidentally coming out of the wrong account... okay it isn't a really good excuse. I'll just chuck in an auto payment but ALSO a reminder a day before so that I don't accidentally go into overdraft

Scheduled rest day in the exercise program today. It goes 3 days of exercise and 1 day off in a repeating cycle. However, and I'm not sure how long ago I started doing this, maybe a couple of weeks, but I started doing standing bicycle crunches whenever I'm waiting for the Minipeelers to answer a question I've asked. It goes something like, "What do you guys want for breakfast?" commence crunches while waiting for answer Child answers eventually and I cease crunches. I sometimes get quite a few in before they answer! They found it funny at first but now it's normalised. Also, I didn't realise how many questions I ask my kids!

7
aussie.zone

You stand with your feet shoulder width apart and your hands clasped behind your head (or resting on your shoulders, with your left hand on your left shoulder and right hand in the right shoulder). You bring your left knee up as you bring your right elbow down to meet it, then straighten up again. Then you bring your right knee up as you bring your left elbow down to meet it, and straighten up again. You don't have to actually touch knee to elbow if it's too hard (but it will get easier), the focus is mostly on bringing the knees up as high as is comfortable and creating the stomach crunch with your elbow and upper body movement. If you're doing it with your hands clasped behind your head, remember to not actually pull on your neck during the exercise. I find them to be easy and effective.

2
aussie.zone

Oh that's such a good idea. I try and do things like squats while I'm brushing my teeth, but I like the idea of standing crunches while waiting for stuff.

3

I wish I could do more squats, but half a lifetime of lifting in the workplace with my knees means squats kinda hurt after a while so I do minimal amounts of wimpy not very low squats.
