Anyone tried Drivebase yet? (looking for cloud file storage)
https://github.com/drivebase/drivebase
Background: I am looking to replace my FileBrowser docker service with something newer and this looks very nice. My needs are simple right now -- just local folders and files, I need to access from anywhere. But I'm also liking Drivebase supporting multiple cloud providers, as I have files in more than one place. They offer paid managed services, or a free self-hosted version for folks like us.
Looking for just the basic Google Drive features here for a few people, not a pastebin or a temporary file sharing service. Don't need any AI features.
But I am surprised Drivebase has never been discussed here before, and I notice they have an agents.md file in the repo too.
Thanks for any ideas on this. Let me know what you prefer for this sort of thing, if you like.
EDIT TO ADD: thanks all for the info. I'll not use this Drive base. Think I'll check out other options next.

Nextcloud has been treating me very well
"They" are some random dude and claude.
Because it's pure slop. There's no community around this project that would initiate such discussions.
I wouldn't host this.
From released 1.0 in February to release 4.0 this June and then silence?
Well, I am going to pass on that AI project…
Regarding the access to cloud, it's been done with fuse many times and it is very useful for those who need it.
You should know that many of these cloud services claim they "don't know what's in your files", but have been shown to absolutely be able to access them on request from court order or law enforcement. Just saying.
Just checking - you know I plan to self host this, on my own PC, inside my LAN, yes?
Are you suggesting there are app owners who've written their code such that they can see inside that arrangement and access the files there?
Your said you were going to use the cloud services, so even if you self-host, using a cloud service api carries the same risk as using their apps. This is an app to unify all the remote storage things.
However, after looking at the code, I retract my comment and caution you not to use Drivebase:
If this is a salt or a seed, the documentation is wrong. But it looks like they're using this base64 value as the actual key for whatever encryption Claude has vibe-coded into it.
base64 values can be reversed very trivially.
Don't use this.
Does this not means you have files on cloud provider platforms?
To be clear, right now all my files are local on the server right now. Someday I expect to have files backed up on a VSP server but that's not there yet.
Well you said cloud - cloud to most of us here doesn't mean on your systems, but a "cloud" of systems - i.e. not controlled by you.
I use Infomaniak. Not self hosted but mostly just works and offers a reasonable amount of storage plus integrations for not a lot of money.
Then I have many of my self hosted solutions connect to it.
