I think their sales numbers disagree with you. They're still the number one ebook and ebook reader seller in the world. Amazon's share of the US ebook market is 70–80%, while Kindle's share of the dedicated e-reader market has been estimated as high as 72%.

EDIT: Removed my rant, because it may have come across as too negative. :)

I'm great! Amazon is the #1 seller of ereaders in the world, so since I follow ereaders, I'm gonna come across Amazon Kindles. Every single person in real life that I know who has an ereader, has a kindle. So watching Lemmy pretend that's not a reality, gets old.

My daily reader isn't even a kindle though. It's an Xteink :)

I'm the only one I know with a non Kindle reader, a Kobo and I've never spotted anyone "in the wild" with anything but a Kindle.

I have an old Kindle in the draw as a backup. Kindle is older and has better screen, the downer of no physical buttons is weighed against its pocketability.

I'd like a Scribe :)

Same. I do think Kindles are good devices, but I have the older Kindle 3 era readers. They are great little workhorses.
