I am attempting Edwardian politeness about this

4

I am attempting the Plantagenet era..

Chaucer said it best...

"Her hosen weren of fine scarlet red, / Full strait y-tied, and shoes full moist and new."

strong rain, lost of thunder , the gardens need it

100%, my big old lemon tree is taking lots of water while it's fruiting and the roses out front have been suffering a bit.

(maybe) last of the Kelpie patient transport runs today. He got full marks for being the best pup for the hospital staff. Little mate had surgery to remove the cyst near his spine and is back at his home full of all the best drugs for pain relief and to get on-top of the infection. Apparently he is already demanding action but also waaay too sore and stoned to actually move.

Good move. I went out today for a few hours and it just felt awful, like there was no freshness or oxygen to the air or something.

The universe hates me. I've just gotten over my cold, now I've got a migraine. I was supposed to work tonight and had to call in sick, which is aggravating because I lose the penalty rates.

You probably gonna be out of sorts for a while but you're safe and you have the young seagoons and Bill Cat for support. Chin up. Take each day as it comes. We love you and we support you too. ๐Ÿซ‚โค๏ธ

Another aftershock I reckon. Make a list of all the good things happening right now. And EAT SOMETHING! Amazing how much more grounded one feels with a peanut butter & jam sammo on board. Or whatever. Something calorie rich and enough real nutrition that you need not feel guilty about it. And how much of that incipient guilt was due to external factors that no longer apply?

If there's one thing I've learned about recovery, it's that the necktop processing unit can be convinced fairly easily, but it takes a LOT longer to convince the gut level reactor. So make it easy for the gut level reactor to join the party.

This is not a time to worry about minor consequences that can be corrected later. Imo it's more important to feed the whole woman. And if that involves chocolate, it's still all good.

I am just sad

been homeless so long , yes, I have a roof,

but for a long time it was temporary while I planned escape , didn't have a bed and have been unsafe, so never felt like it was much of a home

i miss the beach too

What in your opinion, is the best plain biscuit? Eg Marie, malto milk, teady bear, scotch finger etc. No fillings or icings. Just plain biscuits. I like the malto milks.

3

It's either Monte Carlo or the pretzel shaped shortbread bickies they put in the sewing material tins

I've been dunking ikea ginger snaps all week ๐Ÿ˜Š

I'm partial to an arrowroot biscuit. All the plain sweet biscuits you mentioned were a staple in my childhood home, especially the malt 'o' milk. They could be used both for eating with a cuppa and making slices ๐Ÿคค

2

I used to make peanut butter sandwiches with those as a kid

2

Aldi butternut snaps is what I was buying myself. Malto Milk if we're talking classics.

2

NSW gingernuts. The flimsy things down here don't endanger teeth.

Hey umm, not sure about if I missed anything because I've stepped back from social media somewhat these days, but has anyone heard anything from Melba? Account says last post/comment was 5 months ago. Do they have a new account? I know the loss of Melbcat was deeply felt. I think of them from time to time. Just wondered if anyone knew anything?

4

I reached out a few times. They were also stepping back from social media. Melbcat passed which was hitting them hard. I hope they're well if they're lurking.

4

I've been looking to see if she has been posting here or reddit but I haven't seen anything

and she chooses to be very private, it's a worry because she wasn't handling her cat passing well at all

3

Another DTer has reached out with no response - that was a few weeks ago. Can't recall the name offhand. No word since then.

Thanks for the answer. I've sent a direct message after dithering about reaching out because I'm not very good at it ๐Ÿ™

Guess we'll just have to wait and see. I hope all is well, and that Melba is just taking a holiday from us lunatics.

I hope she replies to you. Because she was in a very difficult state after the loss of Melbcat, and sounds like some chronic health issues and difficult neighbour issues, it was very stressful for her. Her tone was very worrying. I very much hope she is still around. Iโ€™m genuinely fearful and wish we could know sheโ€™s OK.

2

I also was worried about her tone, and all the worries and hardship she faced. It takes a lot of strength and guts to break into positives sometimes.

I'm off to a wedding reception tonight. In my handbag I have - my phone, lip gloss, small mirror, fan, vape, tissues and a bottle opener. Am I missing anything?

Can't think of anything. Maybe a purse pack of perfume. Powder.

4

Cab voucher. Or whatever the Uber information is nowadays. I presume you and your husband will be celebrating the wedding properly? ^(๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป)^ Maybe an emergency bottle of tabasco sauce for your husband (just in case).

3

The Uber driver is also my make-up and hair stylist so all good there.

He can carry his own sauce.

Ibuprofen, 1/2 hour with food before you git down on da d-floor and show everyone how it's done.

3

Will do because Turkish weddings are loud af. Might pull out a couple of belly dancing moves. Ibuprofen helps with the hips.

Might save someone's night with a little sewing kit or a tampon. A hip flask of good booze. A museli bar.

LIKE, WTAF.

Girl (ghouuuuul), you fuckin' COOKED with these!!! Please, teach me your ways!! (literally peeled my nails off after 24 hours)

2

Eeeee!! I usually use a thin paintbrush, and I did for a few of these. Otherwise I used the thin side of the polish brushes to do the plants on my right hand, the petals are from those same polish brushes but with as much of the polish scraped off them. I'm surprised they came out legible at all on that hand ๐Ÿ˜‚ thank you!

2

Made some coriander / mint chutney last night for the first time.

Almost like the stuff from indian joints.. ^so^ ^close^.

Think I will freeze the excess coriander in icecube trays, 1/3 in water, 1/3 in lemon, rest in avo. or peanut oil.

Tonight we attempt coriander pesto.

I just received a midnight dog food delivery. Mr Woof slept through the whole thing.

I have decided to stop buying the bulk bags which I have been dividing up into containers for the freezer, instead I'm paying more for smaller bags I can put straight into the freezer. I think it was a good decision. It's a lot less hassle.
