Too bad those buttons do literally nothing. I stopped using youtube ages ago and just have a few channels I know to be good that I sub to via Freetube and watch on that.
i hate that so much posters, thumbnails, etc i am seeing recently suck so hard. ai thumbnails being just one part of how we just hate the art of communicating through design anymore. cram information!!!! just slap random things together!!! thats the way. i love good poster/thumbnail that i can save, print, hang, or just admire. some people took the wrong lesson from 'dont judge a book by its cover'
I keep seeing people talk about AI posters for businesses and I've honestly not seen any, so either I'm really bad at spotting AI which I don't think I am, or it's a regional thing.
i have to disagree with the dearrow part. i find the idea really awful bc of two reasons:
it revokes my ability to be like 'oh thats a horrible thumbnail/ai generated thumbnail/clickbait i should block this channel'
anyone who puts effort to make great thumbnails has their art replaced by screenshot or random person making their own
what this 2 things mean is that those who intentionally make bad stuff are rewarded by making their thumbnails not appear horrible for me to block. while punishing those who respect the art by removing their efforts.
The problem with DeArrow is the zero subtlety with it. Realistically all I want it to do is replace clickbaity titles with actual descriptions so I know whether or not the video is worth clicking on. But it doesn't do that. Instead it obsesses about the thumbnail and to be honest the thumbnail isn't even really the big problem. If it's obviously AI generated then that's useful information to me. The title though...
You can adjust the settings to only change the title and leave the thumbnail. You can also see the orginal title/thumb by hovering over the blue dot next to the title (that might be a setting to enable it?)
I don't like dearrow's auto thumb generation (pick a random video frame) becuase the random frame is rarley relevent or descriptive. I have that turned off, if there's no user submitted frame, I'll see the original instead.

I can't do that as I use dearrow...
bless that this button exists. it's my only defense against clickbait and slop
I just report them for offensive imagery

Keep in mind that not interested is for the subject matter. If it's a topic you are interested in, only use do not recommend channel.

Did work in my end, have to nuke it for a few times for the algorithm to adjust.
Algorithm will shower you with crap whatever you do
You gotta keep it up for a few weeks for it to really take. YouTube likes its slop
Yup, 'Don't recommend channel' every time! Just like businesses around town with AI logos, you can count me out.

Basks in the glory of Freetube and DeArrow
I can block channels and never see them again with Freetube. DeArrow means no stupid thumbnails.

It doesn't seem to actually generate new descriptions though it just decapitolises them.
those button's are like the pedestrian push buttons, they are there to give you a fake sense of agency
Why would you expected youtube to rule in on AI content where they are one the major factories for ai video content
I think it's funny when people show the suggested ai thumbnails in a community post or whatever making fun of it
Matt lowne did it a bit ago and it's kinda hilarious how awful the suggested thumbnails are https://youtube.com/post/UgkxMgmzHZ4AMnR4CShol15LcikhaKsxXvl6
Yeah so that's a terrible thumbnail because I'm even less likely to click on it now.
AI generated thumbnails on a gaming video is just the very definition of insane.
Fr, and it makes the kerbals look so fucking cursed, they shouldn't be that realistic
I suggest the BlockTube extension, which lets you block channels permanently.
