Now where's the rule requiring hosts to be properly licensed and insured as a hotel before providing hotel services? And the one banning apartments from using vacant units as AirBnBs so they can keep units off market to keep rents high without having to lose any revenue?

Oh, right. Screwing the community the rental is located in is a critical part of the AirBnB business model.

Imagine taking a vacation and actually giving these horrible people your money!

What's worse is that even with all those cut corners, it's not even a good value compared to hotels anymore. Good style guide, though.

I was kicked out of an affordable rental that I was in for six years with two months notice (the minimum legal notice period) and found out it turned into an air bnb less than a month after I moved out, with all the repairs done that I had been begging for for years. Charging more for one night than a week's rent. Even advertising the plants I planted in the garden as a feature, because I didn't have time to get them all out of the ground to bring with me before moving.

So I looked up your local laws and find out it does require registration, but it is registered so what they're doing is legal. And then I look deeper and the barrier to entry is basically zero except for a fee to the local council so they can make money off the air bnb as well.

Right in the middle of a housing crisis. My rent nearly doubled as a result, and I moved from inner city to an outer suburb so far away it's considered rural.

Very pleased that this takes effect in the States as well as Canada. (Only mentioning bc the original URL is Canadian.) I didn't check other countries, but hopefully this applies everywhere.

I guess they got scared of all the people fleeing back to hotels.

I used to use Airbnb years ago. They sent me an email about the changes here in Australia, so it's likely global.
